About Elizabeth

As an associate of at Carlin & Buchsbaum, Elizabeth Overby specializes in representing employees in wrongful termination cases that involve issues such as race discrimination, gender discrimination, disability discrimination, age discrimination, sexual harassment, unpaid overtime and whistle-blowing. Prior to joining the team at Carlin & Buchsbaum, Elizabeth gained extensive trial experience as a Deputy District Attorney, fighting for the rights of victims of crime and earning a multitude of jury trial convictions against criminal defendants. Ms. Overby has also gained valuable experience working at a general civil litigation firm, representing predominantly civil defendants, including employers. As a result of her diverse background working in the realms of both criminal and civil law; Elizabeth has gained insight into all aspects of the litigation process and honed the skills that enable her now to effectively represent individuals against their former employers.

Elizabeth grew up in Idaho, where she played on the tennis team for her high school and became a professional figure skater, participating in one of the few summer, outdoor ice shows in the country. On the academic side, she attended Lafayette College in Pennsylvania, graduating with honors and a double major in International Affairs and Government and Law. Pursuant to her choice to earn an International Affairs degree, Elizabeth was able to pursue her love of travel and learning about other cultures, studying abroad in London and Spain. After college, she attended the University of San Diego School of Law and earned her Juris Doctor degree in 2004. She was admitted to the California State Bar in 2004 and has been practicing law in California ever since.
