Jennifer Celentano's response: Connecticut General Statutes 46b-124 provides that all records of juvenile court proceedings are confidential, therefore, it is difficult to respond to any of the posts. I will note that the reviews by “Kevin Smalls” and “Deb Roeder” are nonsense. It is apparent by reading the review that the person who posted has some issues which I am unable to address. It is accurate that I did “win” the neglect case referenced by Kevin Smalls. I did not represent anyone named Kevin Smalls in that matter, rather I represented a Respondent Mother. I do not know, nor have I ever met Kevin Smalls. If you are faced with a DCF investigation or petitions are filed against you, please feel free to reach out to me to discuss your case. JMC
Would NOT recommend unless you're paying for your representation and its not (God Forbid!!) a court ordered appointment !!! 2020 update- still standing by my statement as this was probably THE MOST traumatic experience if my life. It's easy for a person to "call DCF & say you're a bad parent" with no thought of how their hurting your family & no care of what you have to go through when you're guilty till proven innocent. As I stated, the attorney sounded like the perfect fit and passionate to help me during this earth shattering time... Until I found I was eligible for a court appointed attorney. I still had hope as they said, "tell them we spoke and to put my name in your case!" THAT changed VERY VERY quickly! Not even the fact that I never had a "real conversation" with this person until literally 3 minutes before I was called before the judge. All the, "OMG! They can't do that! That's not legal!" quickly morphed into the phrase, "just plead guilty- you'll get this over with faster and your kids will still be with you!" WHAT??!! ARE YOU KIDDING ME??! Just a quick mention so no one else finds themselves in the position I was in. Thank God I did what I thought I should! First was to NOT plead guilty as I had done NOTHING wrong (except to let DCF in my door as I thought I legally had to!) Praise to Judge Brown of New haven Superior Court for seeing through all the statement switching, outright fabrications of things that WHO KNOWS where these people (DCF) made them up from & for finally (I believe) trusting his gut/instinct/BRAIN (not sure what it was!) to believe that the person he saw before him (ME!!) was many things. A neglectful and/or abusive parent WOULD NEVER be a term anyone that truly knows me would EVER use to describe me!!
HORRIBLE, unprofessional, rude and has no respect for the actual case, highly unreasonable . HIGHLY DO NOT RECommend her to anyone. Even the judges were disgusted with the way she does he job and represents her clients. Jennifer Celentano is an awful legal attorney.
Attorney Celentano's reputation is truly 'THE Best of THE Best." She came highly recommended to me from a well respected family court Judge who described Attorney Celentano as "honest, intelligent and fair." Since that time, I have retained her firm in various matters (custody, post-divorce contempt and other misc. civil ) and in all circumstances she has exceeded expectations. I find Attorney Celentano to be direct, calm and to the point. You can trust her to give you a true, intelligent assessment of your case. She will not overpromise and underdeliver. I had an emotionally charged, contentious family matter which brought tremendous stress with it; In my experience, Jennifer Celentano's style defused so much of the angst and craziness that came along with my case. She exudes a strong, calming vibe which defused much of the angst during the time we spent in court. I highly recommend Attorney Celentano and thank her and her firm for their support.
