My disability claim was disapproved by the Social Security Appeal Council, it was my second time applying. I had a lawyer that did not do a very good job of communicating with me regarding my case. Not prepared on the day of the hearing with the Administrative Law Judge (ALJ) or during the prepping before the hearing. Exhibits were submitted for approval; the client did not receive a copy of what exactly was submitted to the ALJ. My lawyer was not a fighter, having me explain what disabilities I have at the hearing. Received the decision, what a waste of time. I did not have a very good feeling regarding my lawyer. The lawyer did not put forth an effort to challenge the judge’s or counselor’s recommendations or questions. Received my letter from the Appeal Council supporting the ALJ decision, not overturning the decision or recommending another hearing. I have not received any correspondence, email, or phone call from my lawyer regarding the decision to date. I contacted the office, and the receptionist was not very informative in giving her answer to where we go from this point. The Receptionist or paralegal inform me the law office do not take cases to federal court. So that is it, pretty much was the response from the paralegal. I would not recommend anyone to this law firm for help! Communication SUCKS when it comes to wanting to know where your case stands. I decided to stick with the lawyer in hopes that having a lawyer would help. I wasted 16 months with a law firm that did not fight for my disability claim. The lawyer was not organized when preparing me for the hearing. Fumbling with the documentation sent to help with my case, I do not believe he studied the documents sent to support my case. Please think twice when hiring this law firm! When I inquired about what was sent to the AC to help support my argument, the paralegal gave me 3 sheets of paper, with the statement being one that did not dispute or defend the decision by the ALJ. It is very disgruntling with how my case was handle and at the law firm lack of communication. My case had supporting documentation. The judge wrote their decision plagiarizing the decision from the judge in the first hearing. I file a complaint for failure to “due diligence” to the Division of Quality Service Office of Executive Operations and Human Resources, and a discrimination complaint regarding statements made in my decision that my lawyer never addressed in the appeal to the Appeal Council. If you decide to go with firm and win, congratulations. If you hire this firm and loose, now you. NO RESPONSE NECESSARY OR REQUIRED!!!
Everyone was so helpful, and really put me at ease. Mager was able to not only get me approved for disability, but he also fought for 100% of my back pay. And he did it all in less than a year. I was denied 5 times before finding him, and am in a wheelchair now. But he fought for me when I wasn’t able to fight for myself.
Very Outstanding SS Disability Attorney. He's versatile and will answers any and all your questions, pertaining to your specific case, in terms that you would truly understand. I highly recommend him to anyone that has a case in his field of studies!
From the onset Mr. Varnado has been polite and professional. His soft spoken manner has helped to calm my fear. I'm more than thankful having his expertise on my side.
