Mr. Popescu also holds membership in the American Bar Association, the American Trial Lawyers Association and the Bars of the United States District Courts for the District of NewJersey, the Eastern District of New York, the Southern District of New York and the Eastern District of Michigan. He is also a member of the Second Circuit Court of Appeals (New York, Connecticut, Vermont), the Third Circuit Court of Appeals (New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Delaware, the Virgin Islands) and of the Federal Circuit Court of Appeals.

Mr. Popescu is an adjunct professor of law at Rutgers University School of Law, Newark, New Jersey, where he has been teaching litigation for the past 5 years.

He has contributed legal articles for several publications, including the New Jersey Law Journal. Mr. Popescu was also named and acted as President of the New York Electoral Commission for the Romanian presidential and parliamentary elections.

The China International Economic and Trade Arbitration Commission (“CIETAC”) has reported a rapid growth in commercial arbitration cases in China. Many of these arbitrations have involved WOFEs engaged in activities through the Chinese Government's the Belt and Road Initiative. If a WFOE find themselves in arbitration in CIETAC, parties to a dispute should understand the basic underpinnings of the UNCITRAL Model Law on International Commercial Arbitration of 1985 (“Model Law”).     this article addresses what a Wholly Foreign Owned Enterprise (“WFOE”) operating in China should do to avoid ending up in court and, if it does, how the company can maximize its chances of winning the case. WFOEs enjoy the benefits of limited liability afforded businesses and the individual rights offered under Chinese civil law.
