I was staying with a landlord here in Oakland for 7 months in a 3br house. One of the roommates had a drinking problem and one night cake into my room super waisted. After working 14 hours... I asked the guy if he could please give me my privacy. Obviously, I've been around drinkers before and politely asked him several times to head on over to his room because I was a bit exhausted. Clearly, the drinker did not want to call it an easy night and refused to head out. However, at this point in my life that is not something I'd like to deal with, as I've lived a sober life for 9years now. The very smell of alcohol on his breath is a trigger for me, and I've stayed away from alcohol for years. The very next day the owner who is friends with the other roommates sent me emails telling me that I needed to move within 3 days, due to me calling to police on him for my own protection and documentation's. I did have an incident report from Oakland PD stating that I called them to peacefully get that guy out of my room, so that I could shower and go to bed. I wake up wbu day for work at 5am and have no time for that. Andrea was an amazing help abs had to write me several letters to give me more time to find me a place without the owner touching my personal belongings while I'm was at work. I would definitely recommend her if you have having landlord issues here in Alameda county. She is amazing at what she does, and I would have had my stuff put out on the streets because other people felt like they "knew what my rights are". The very next day the property owner was extremely disrespectful forwards me even though my rent is always paid on time and due to the fact that he was taking sides, and not on the side of rationality through sobriety. All of this was provided to me at no cost. I was able to move safely and found a new apartment without being threatened when I come home from work by an owner harassing me. I don't like the attorney's being so friendly. I don't care about the friendship but I shouldn't know you are cool with the opposition. Still grateful for the help...

I use to have faith in them but my last bout with them left me feeling like they were a part of the problem and not the solution.

They didnt answer and have not even called me back and its been a week now

Andrea Henson, Esq. helped me get my security deposit back from a landlord who only gave me oral notice in the middle of Covid and after asking me to leave without cause, said she would deduct last months rent since I was leaving earlier than expected. Andrea wrote the landlord a letter and she changed her tune 180 degrees, stating she never said she was not going to refund my security deposit.
