My husband, of 2 years, was transported from work to a local hospital for chest pains and dizziness. His heart checked out fine but his blood count was low. The on call Gastroenterologist, wasn't available so the ER physician admitted him for a bleeding ulcer, where he received 4 units of blood through the night. The next morning, he was assisted to the bathroom but left unattended. He collapsed due from bleeding out. CPR was conducted for approximately 16 minutes. He was revived and sent to SICU, where he coded again for 3 minutes. One week later, my husband died of brain damage at the age of 41 years old, leaving behind a 38 year old wife and 10 year old daughter. We were in the process of an adoption three months prior to his death. I decided to go through this process alone and my precious daughter was born exactly 2 years from the day that he and I first contacted the adoption agency. Mr. Painter is extremely friendly and made time to listen to my story, although it was rather difficult for me to talk about. He was informative and realistic about my case, but more importantly, he was very honest. It breaks my heart that my husband will only see his daughters from Heaven but it puts my mind at rest knowing that justice was somewhat served.....and this could possibly save someone else's life from ending.
