Michelle Gilbert is admitted to the Florida Bar (1986), Washington, D.C. Bar (2020), Middle District of Florida (1988), Northern District of Florida (2005), Southern District of Florida (2006), U.S. Supreme Court (2000), and U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit (2003). She matriculated at the University of South Florida (B.A., 1982, cum laude), and the University of Notre Dame Law School (J.D., 1985). Michelle has practiced real estate and business law since 1989, specializing in default servicing legal work, including litigated foreclosures, real estate closings, evictions, and commercial litigation. She works closely with the default industry by speaking at webinars and conferences, writing for industry publications, and consulting on various issues relevant to the industry. She was named 2021 Top 25 Women of Law by DS News, as well as selected as one of MReport’s 2015 and 2018 Leading Ladies. She taught the Florida Thirteenth Judicial Circuit Certified Process Servers Course from 1993 to 2014, and has written the chapter on service of process in real estate cases for the Florida Bar, since 2010.

Sonia is an accomplished attorney and entrepreneur with a nearly 20-year career that spans law, entrepreneurship, compliance, and business development. Sonia holds a Juris Doctorate from the University of Florida and a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the University of Miami. At the University of Miami, she led the Puerto Rican Students Association for 4 years, co-founded Hispanic Heritage Month, and was an active member of Kappa Kappa Gamma. Sonia is fluent in English and Spanish, and her work has taken her from the courtrooms of Florida to the International Court of the Hague. Sonia’s career is marked by significant roles, including working as a Political Analyst at the CIA with Top Secret Clearance, translating and legal documents for the International Convention of the Abduction of the Child at The Hague International Court, and co-authoring a bench book on International law for the U.S. Supreme Court. Sonia’s legal expertise is broad, encompassing business law, Estate Planning, Probate, and immigration law. She has participated in both litigation and in house counsel roles and even in court chambers drafting court opinions for an Appellate Judge. Her varied experience in representing foreign national families through USCIS and Department of Homeland Security trials and counseling entrepreneurs on the process of incorporation and legal protection of businesses in the US, underscores her expertise in international and domestic legal matters and is yet another example of her commitment to serving a broad range of clients of varied needs. Sonia balances her professional pursuits with a love for meditation, yoga, traveling, and kickboxing. She is a devoted mother to 2 children and 3 cats and values empowering women and children. Sonia’s adventurous spirit led her to live in France and The Netherlands for almost a year, run with bulls in Pamplona, homebirth her youngest child, and homeschool her children for 4 years.
