About Judith
Judy has been instrumental in the development of children’s law, both in Wisconsin and across the country, for more than two decades. She has repeatedly fought for the rights of children in Wisconsin courts, including the Wisconsin Supreme Court.
In 1988, the Center for Public Representation recognized her for her outstanding public service by an attorney, and in 2004 she was awarded the U.S. Congressional “Angel of Adoption,” which recognizes and honors the good work of individuals who have enriched the lives of children through adoption.
Judy is the author of Voluntary Termination of Parental Rights and Adoption, and the juvenile chapter of the Guardian Ad Litem Handbook, both published by the State Bar of Wisconsin. She is a frequent speaker on the topics of child protection and assisted reproduction. Judy is a member and past president of the American Academy Adoption Attorneys.
Education
Judy earned her law degree cum laude from the University of Wisconsin Law School in 1981. She is a graduate of Indiana University and received her master’s degree from Northern Illinois University.
Personal
Judy and her husband, Bruce, are the parents of three grown children, two of whom were adopted. Together, they enjoy traveling throughout the U.S. and internationally to help with disaster relief through the American Red Cross.
