Please describe a case in the last year or two where you made a big difference.
I represented a CDL driver charged with a second offense DUI in Kentucky which meant he was going to lose his CDL license for the rest of his life (that is the penalty -- it's 1 year for a first offense CDL DUI). I was able to find a very serious legal issue where the officers did not follow proper procedure and we were able to save his career and future.
How did you build a successful practice?
By being proactive -- investing a lot of time into building my website and growing my client base by delivering the best results possible to all my clients (which generates referrals). The key is: Never take a case that is outside your abilities and you will never disappoint a client.
What should clients look for in a lawyer?
Good reviews, good case results, one that has tried at least 5 cases in their first 5 years and 15 cases in their first 10 years (regardless of the outcome, but preferably winning results) -- that means they are not afraid of a fight and will go to bat if push comes to shove.
What differentiates you from other lawyers in your community?
What is the most rewarding aspect of your job?
Being able to lift the burden off the client's shoulders, carry it with me, bring them a good result and have them tell their friends why they should all come to me with their legal problems so I can solve them.
What are your other interests in addition to law?
I like Snowboarding, playing ping-pong and tennis, playing the occasional video game, and chess.
Are you involved in your community?
I volunteer as a judge in moot court competitions, donate money to charity and periodically volunteer in legal clinics that provide pro bono legal services to clients in need such as the homeless, veterans, and other people of low income means.
