About Mark
Mark Hartzog is the senior member of Hartzog & Silva, PLC. He attended Rhodes College in Memphis, Tennessee and received his undergraduate degree from Georgia Institute of Technology in Atlanta, Georgia. Subsequent thereto, he completed Marine Officers Candidate School and served in the United States Marine Corps, attaining the rank of Captain. He was stationed in Vietnam during the period 1965-66. Thereafter, he graduated from the University of Tennessee College of Law. While in law school, he clerked for the Knoxville firms of Ambrose, Wilson, Lockridge & Grimm and McCampbell, Young, Bartlett & Woolf. Upon graduation, he relocated to Franklin, Tennessee and joined the firm of Dave A. Alexander, becoming a partner shortly thereafter.
Mr. Hartzog has worked principally in areas of family law, real estate, estate planning, probate and estate administration, and personal injury. He is a member of the American Bar Association and the Tennessee Bar Association. He served for seventeen (17) years as legal counsel for the Williamson County Board of Realtors and as interim legal counsel for Williamson County. He is a former member of the Board of Directors of Heritage Federal Bank, the Board of Directors of Oak Hill School in Nashville, and the Board of Directors of the Williamson County Counseling Center. He is a founding member of the Blair School of Music which is now a part of Vanderbilt University. He is a past President of the Franklin Rotary Club and has been named a Paul Harris Fellow by Rotary International. He is a past Chairman of the Diaconate at First Presbyterian Church (Nashville). Mr. Hartzog has enjoyed an AV rating in the Martindale-Hubbell Law Directory for over twenty-five (25) years. The A signifies the highest level of legal ability, while the V denotes very high adherence to the professional standards of conduct, ethics, reliability and diligence.
Mr. Hartzog and his wife Sylvia have two (2) children. They have been involved in various committees and/or support roles at Oak Hill School, Harpeth Hall School and Montgomery Bell Academy. They have served on Parent-Faculty Committees at Washington University and Middlebury College. They have been active in their support of the Nashville Symphony, the Tennessee Performing Arts Center, Cheekwood Botanical Gardens and various organizations serving special needs in the Middle Tennessee area including Habitat for Humanity, Nashville Union Mission, Vanderbilt Children's Hospital, and Second Harvest.
