About Mary
Mary Elizabeth White is an associate with the firm and was admitted to the Virginia State Bar in 2004, after graduating from the George Mason University School of Law in May of that year. She grew up in a military family, spending seven years in Naples, Italy, where she and her family traveled around Europe.
Ms. White spent 12 years in the United States Air Force in the Intelligence field and lived within the confines of "The Wall" in Berlin, Germany during the Cold War for a total of five years. Mary returned to college when her oldest daughter graduated high school and continued on to law school. She lives in the Fredericksburg area with her husband and son, and has practiced in the Spotsylvania, Stafford, Fredericksburg and King George courts.
Ms. White graduated summa cum laude from Mary Washington College in 1999, where she majored in speaking and writing. She served as the President of the Trial Advocacy Association at the law school during her last year, and helped grow the organization from a handful of students to one of the leading student organizations in the school. After law school, she clerked for a year for The Honorable Jonathan C. Thacher of the Fairfax Circuit Court before entering private practice, where she concentrates on family law. Her particular areas of interest include jurisdictional issues and custody.
She is a member of the Fairfax Bar Association, The Fredericksburg Area Bar Association, the Virginia Trial Lawyers Association, the American Bar Association, and the Northern Virginia Women Attorneys Association. She serves as a faculty advisor to the Trial Advocacy Association at George Mason University School of Law and has served as Regional Coordinator for the regional competition for the American College of Trial Lawyers Association and Texas Young Lawyers Association (ACTL/TYLA) National Trial Competition for the last five years. She also reads, writes and speaks Polish with, as she states "with a reasonable degree of comprehension."
