Nick Deets has been a partner with Hovde Dassow + Deets in Indianapolis since 2001. His primary areas of practice are personal injury, medical malpractice, product liability, and wrongful death. He has tried more than 80 jury trials to verdict. Richard Shea graduated from California State Polytechnic University, Pomona with a Bachelor of Science degree in Hotel & Restaurant Management in 1995 and received his Doctor of Jurisprudence from Indiana University School of Law – Bloomington in 1998. He has concentrated his practice in the field of Consumer Bankruptcy for the past 11 years. Richard is a member of the Indianapolis Bar Association, the Indiana State Bar Association and the National Association of Consumer Bankruptcy Attorneys. He has served on the Local Rules and Procedures Advisory Committee of the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of Indiana and has taught at bankruptcy seminars.

Frederick R. (Rick) Hovde is a founder of Hovde Dassow and Deets LLC and focuses his practice on the areas of medical negligence, car and truck accidents, construction site accidents, and injuries from dangerous consumer products all on behalf of plaintiffs. He has tried over one hundred ten cases to a jury verdict and obtained several maximum statutory verdicts in medical malpractice cases and several verdicts in excess of $1,000,000 in automobile accident, products liability, and insurance bad faith cases. He has handled many significant and complex construction, products liability, and accident and insurance claim cases. He has also been involved in a substantial amount of appellate decisions and authored a number or articles. Over the course of his career, Rick has received countless honors and awards in recognition of his legal excellence. He has been listed in Best Lawyers in America since 2003, recognized as an Indiana Super Lawyer since 2004, is a Fellow of the International Academy of Trial Lawyers, American College of Trial Lawyers, Indiana College of Trial Lawyers, Litigation Counsel of America, Indianapolis Bar Foundation. He is also a long time member of the American Association for Justice and American Board of Trial Advocates. He has served on the Board of Directors of the Indiana Trial Lawyers Association since 1990, the Executive Committee from 1995 to 2003, and was President during the 2002-2003 term. In 2019 he received the distinguished Lifetime Achievement Award from the Indiana Trial Lawyers Association.

David W. Stewart focuses his practice exclusively on plaintiff’s personal injury and wrongful death litigation. From the firm’s office in Indianapolis, Indiana, he assists clients throughout Marion County, the greater Indianapolis metropolitan area and other parts of the state. The types of cases that Mr. Stewart has handled have included big rig and other motor vehicle crashes, defective drugs, defective products, construction site accidents, and medical malpractice. During his career, Mr. Stewart has chaired more than 70 jury trials and he has been able to obtain numerous sizable awards. Outside of the courtroom, he has negotiated settlements that have been favorable to his clients. Some of the defendants that Mr. Stewart has gone up against have included the manufacturers of Reglan, Trasylol and Chantix, and he has also represented victims of transvaginal mesh complications. As an undergraduate, Mr. Stewart attended Wabash College in Crawfordsville, and he received his bachelor’s degree in 1986. Remaining in the state, he pursued his legal education at Indiana University School of Law, and he was awarded his Juris Doctor in 1989. Mr. Stewart is admitted to practice before all Indiana and Michigan state courts, and he is also admitted to practice before the U.S. District Courts for the Southern and Northern Districts of Indiana and the Supreme Court of the United States. An active participant in several professional legal organizations, he is a member of the board of directors of the Indiana Trial Lawyers Association. Mr. Stewart is also a real estate broker and a member of the Metropolitan Indianapolis Board Of Realtors.

Amber K. Boyd is a versatile professional with strong experience in managing complex litigation matters. She founded Amber K. Boyd Attorney at Law in 2013, where she is the sole practitioner. Ms. Boyd specializes in employment law with a focus on discrimination cases. She also has deep expertise in estate planning and probate law. Her goal is to deliver effective, efficient, and strategic service to her clients. Ms. Boyd always keeps her eye on winning at trial. She has established a track record of securing large settlements for her clients that often exceed what the defendant or employer had offered. Ms. Boyd clearly explains complex legal issues to her clients and ensures witnesses are well-prepared to testify. She has years of experience litigating in federal and state court, and she has mediated cases through the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission. Before founding her law firm, Ms. Boyd served as a compliance officer at a national mortgage company in Indianapolis, where she managed 19 law firms nationwide. She evaluated attorney compliance with policies, procedures, service level agreements, and state and federal requirements. Ms. Boyd also provided litigation support to executive management and internal and external counsel, and she completed a root cause analysis of foreclosure issues to identify process improvements. Ms. Boyd is a member of the Marion County Bar Association, the Indianapolis Bar Association, and the American Bar Association Labor and Employment Division. She is also a board member of the Mapleton-Fall Creek Neighborhood Development Corporation as well as a member of the Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.

I’ve spent most of my life living in Ohio and Indiana. I grew up in Ohio and moved to Indiana to finish school, including Law School at Indiana University School of Law in Indianapolis. Prior to becoming an attorney, I worked as a business analyst for over five years in the student loan industry. I represent clients throughout the state of Ohio and Indiana in the following areas: Bankruptcy, Social Security Disability, Veteran’s Disability, and Immigration.

Andrew Sawin received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Indiana University in 1989 and his Doctor of Jurisprudence from Indiana University School of Law – Indianapolis in 1995. He has concentrated his practice in the field of Consumer Bankruptcy for the past 15 years. Andrew is a member of the Indianapolis Bar Association, the Indiana State Bar Association and the National Association of Consumer Bankruptcy Attorneys.

He has presented lectures and papers on Alternate Dispute Resolution and Trial Practice to the Indiana Trial Lawyers Association, Indianapolis Bar Association, Continuing Legal Education Forum, and for the National Business Institute, Inc. Bob is a member of the Academy of Family Mediators, and has served as Secretary of the Alternate Dispute Resolution section of the Indianapolis Bar Association.Mr. Garelick completed a two-year term in 1994 as President of the Indianapolis Law Club, which consists of 150 experienced trial lawyers whose membership is by invitation only.
