Michael Eby was born in Paradise, Pennsylvania in 1946. He attended Hamilton College, receiving his Bachelor of Arts Degree in 1968. Following a tour of duty with the U.S. Army, Vietnam, he entered the Boston University School of Law, receiving a Juris Doctor degree in 1973 and a Masters of Laws in Taxation in 1976. After graduation, he was appointed Assistant Attorney General in the Administrative Division of the Massachusetts Office of the Attorney General, where he represented state agencies in the Superior Courts of the Commonwealth and on appeal to the Appeals Court and Supreme Judicial Court. During his term as an Assistant Attorney General, he argued seventeen appellate cases on behalf of state agencies and courts. He was also counsel to the Department of Public Utilities, handling matters of electric, gas, telephone and common carrier regulation, as well as the Department's appeals to the Supreme Judicial Court. Since joining Gilman, McLaughlin & Hanrahan LLP, he has specialized in construction law, business and estate planning, corporate law and business litigation.
