About Michael

Michael Schwegler, represents the Firm’s clients in transactional and, especially, litigation and zoning matters. He has a broad background litigating and trying cases in state and federal trial and appellate courts. Serving as both plaintiff’s and defense counsel, Mike has litigated cases in a variety of areas, including insurance coverage, contract dispute, most types of personal injury, bankruptcy, criminal, education-related and administrative review matters, and has particular experience with civil rights, municipal liability, land use and federal anti-discrimination litigation. Before entering private practice, Mike was an Assistant Attorney General for the state of Tennessee, where he defended the state in civil rights, tort, state taxation and administrative review lawsuits in state and federal courts.

Mike is licensed to appear before all Tennessee state trial and appellate courts, the United States District Courts for the Western, Middle and Eastern Districts of Tennessee, as well and the Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals. He is a member of the Nashville, Tennessee, and American Bar Associations, as well as the Tennessee Association for Justice. Mike graduated in 2002 from Vanderbilt University Law School, where he served as a Notes Editor on (what is now) the Vanderbilt Journal of Entertainment and Technology Law.

Mike graduated from Miami University in 1999 with a B.A. in History and Diplomacy & Foreign Affairs. Mike was born in Cleveland, Ohio. In his spare time, he enjoys movies, the outdoors, travel, reading—especially history, biographies and all types of fiction—and, increasingly, golf and photography
