At a recent hearing, the Chapter 13 Trustee was planning to dismiss my clientโs case. I was able to show proof that my client had been facing employment challenges, but was now employed, and in a good position to satisfy her monthly mortgage payments. This showing of new employment was sufficient; my clientโs case was not dismissed. As such, she was able to continue living in her home. A lifelong North Carolinian, Kristen was born and raised in Brevard, North Carolina. She attended the University of North Carolina at Greensboro earning a BA degree summa cum laude in 1998 then law school at Wake Forest University where she was a recipient of the Wake Forest University Law Faculty Scholarship. Kristen has served as a law clerk for two federal bankruptcy judges โ the Honorable J. Craig Whitley of Charlotte, North Carolina and the Honorable Thomas W. Waldrep, Jr. of Winston-Salem, North Carolina. Since 2001, Kristen has concentrated primarily on bankruptcy matters representing debtors, creditors, and trustees in all aspects of consumer and business bankruptcy proceedings. Kristen is a member of the North Carolina State Bar and the National Association of Consumer Bankruptcy Attorneys. During her career, she has published articles on bankruptcy topics in national publications and authored a chapter in the North Carolina Bankruptcy Practice Manual. From a young age, Gary Shipman knew he was destined for the courtroom. After graduating from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington, he earned his law degree from Campbell University School of Law at the age of 24. Two years later, Gary founded his own firm, and he hasnโt looked back since. Gary has spent over forty five years trying cases nationwide, including complex and consequential cases involving personal injury, commercial litigation, professional negligence, and class actions.
