Dahlia is a past president of the Caribbean Bar Association and the first female president of the association. She is a member of the American Immigration Lawyers Association; the American Bar Association; Alpha Academy Alumnae Association, (Florida and Jamaica chapters); and The National Association of Professional Women. Dahlia is a former member of the Board of Directors of the Florida Council of Bar Association Presidents. Dahlia is the founder and the former first president of The Jamaican Women of Florida (JWOF), Inc., in 2013, a Non-Profit organization designed to provide an outlet for Jamaican women in Florida to empower themselves through charitable and educational outreach, mentoring and personal development. She is active in the community and is often called upon to participate in community forums throughout the United States and Jamaica to speak on the issues of migration, immigration, citizenship, economic development, diversity and inclusion and women’s empowerment. From June, 2004 to June, 2006 Dahlia was an elected advisor to the Jamaican Government and served on the Jamaican Diaspora Advisory Board representing the Southern United States. Terri Buchalter was awarded a Bachelor of Arts degree from University of Florida in 1977 with honors. She earned a Juris Doctor degree from Nova Law School in 1980.
