About Richard

Representing wronged people, Richard vigorously prosecutes cases relating to personal injury, general civil litigation, and workers' compensation. More specific practice areas include construction site accidents, premises liability, slip and fall, property defects, car accidents, motorcycle accidents, trucking accidents, catastrophic injury, dog bite injuries, negligent security, negligent hiring, wrongful death, construction site defects, contractual indemnification/additional insured issues and litigation of other negligence and dispute related issues.

Richard has been involved with insurance litigation for over thirteen years (working in private law firms and directly for an insurance company).  He is intimately familiar with methods insurance companies employ to defend, evaluate, and resolve cases.  Richard was a Trial Attorney with Zurich American Insurance Company in the Boston Staff Counsel office.  At Zurich, Richard managed all case aspects from initial investigation through final case resolution, whether such resolution was by direct settlement, mediation, or trial.

Prior to working for Zurich, Richard spent several years as an insurance litigation attorney in private law firms handling cases relating to premises liability, personal injury, products liability, professional malpractice, workers' compensation, and general negligence.

Richard resides in Concord, Massachusetts, with his wife and two Labrador Retrievers. He graduated magna cum laude from New York University with a Bachelors of Arts Degree in Economics.  He was also a member of Omicron Delta Epsilon, an Economics honors society.  Richard then attended Boston University School of Law, where he was a semi-finalist and then co-director of the Homer Albers Moot Court Competition.  Upon graduation, he served as a law clerk to the Honorable Frank J. Montemuro, Jr., Associate Justice on the Pennsylvania Supreme Court, until returning to the Boston area in early 1995.

Richard is a member of the Massachusetts Bar Association, and avidly pursues outdoor activities, including snowboarding, kiteboarding, cycling, and hiking.  He has been a volunteer with Killington Ski area in Vermont since 1997, and recently joined the Ski Patrol at Nashoba Valley in Westford, Massachusetts.  His varied background includes stints as a commercial fisherman, framing carpenter, and a reporter on the floor of the American Stock Exchange.

Richard is committed to community and charitable contribution.  He promotes ecological and social initiatives by donating 5% of his net fees to environmental and/or community organizations.
