About Samantha
In the summer of 1996, Samantha relocated to the Jersey Shore where she soon found employment as a law clerk in the firm of Lawrence, Leslie & Kain on Main Street in Asbury Park. Throughout her clerkship, Samantha worked directly for the late, great Grace Leslie, Esq.
Despite being eligible to directly take the New York bar examination, Samantha decided to return to the study of law in the United States and in the year 2000, a Juris Doctor was conferred upon her by Brooklyn Law School. During her attendance at the law school, Samantha had the opportunity to perform an internship for the Honorable Robert Feldman, Esq. of the Superior Court of New Jersey.
In 2000, the firm became Lawrence, Leslie & Keown where Ms. Keown represented clients who sustained personal injuries in work related accidents, automobile accidents and premises liability. She also continued to represent clients in Municipal Court charged with traffic and criminal offenses. It was also in this year that Ms. Keown joined the Monmouth Bar Association where she was appointed to numerous committees.
In 2001, the Asbury Park law firm relocated from Main Street to the current location on Sunset Avenue, Asbury Park. Sadly in December of 2001, the firm suffered a devastating loss with the passing of Grace Leslie, Esquire, a true Counselor at Law and a true friend to all who had the pleasure of knowing her. The clients of the Asbury Park Law firm still reminisce about the “good ole’ days with Grace”!
In 2002, Samantha Keown, Esq., was elected by her peers to serve as a Trustee serving on the Board of Trustees of the Monmouth Bar Association. She successfully sought re-election in 2005 and completed her term in 2009. www.monmouthbar.com. She continues to serve as a member of several committees as described below.
As the firm continued to grow, Ms. Keown’s practice became more focused on the area of workers’ compensation and the personal injury practice in general. In 2005, the New Jersey State Bar awarded Samantha with the YLD “Service to the Bar” award.
Also in 2005, with the retirement of Mr. Lawrence, Ms. Keown acquired a full interest in the Asbury Park Law firm and on September 15, 2005, the “Law Offices of Samantha Keown” was officially launched.
