About Samuel
Sam Perkins is a founding partner of Brody, Hardoon, Perkins & Kesten, LLP. He was a Massachusetts Lawyers Weekly "Lawyer of the Year" in 2006, and has been designated a Super Lawyer every year since 2004.
Mr. Perkins has been lead counsel in dozens of jury trials in the federal and state courts of Massachusetts and Vermont. His diverse practice includes commercial litigation, civil rights, consumer protection, employment, professional malpractice, land use and personal injury.
Recent cases include:
Plan B Litigation Against Walmart: Mr. Perkins sued Walmart for refusing to stock Plan B, the "Morning After Pill." As a result, Walmart now stocks Plan B in over 3700 pharmacies nationwide.
Consumer Class Actions Against Staples and Pep Boys: Mr. Perkins was lead counsel in class actions against both companies for violating Massachusetts consumer pricing laws. The resulting judgments forced the companies to comply with pricing laws and led to an innovative Consumer Day event in which over 100,000 Massachusetts consumers received direct in-store discounts.
Islamic Society of Boston Mosque Litigation: Mr. Perkins was lead counsel for a Boston citizen who brought a First Amendment challenge to the Boston Redevelopment Authority's decision to subsidize the transfer of land to the Islamic Society of Boston.
Anti-Palestinian Discrimination: Mr. Perkins recovered $100,000 for a Palestinian national who was subjected to racist jokes, accusations that he was a terrorist, and discriminatory assignments as a mechanic at an auto dealership.
Nanny Lawyer Defamation Claim: Mr. Perkins represented Brody, Hardoon, Perkins & Kesten, LLP partner Len Kesten against defamation claims by attorney Elaine Whitfield Sharp, former lawyer for British Nanny Louise Woodward. The jury deliberated for twenty minutes before concluding that Mr. Kesten had correctly accused Ms. Whitfield Sharp of intimidating witnesses in a federal trial.
