About Sarah

Sarah McAmis was born and raised in Tulsa, Oklahoma.  She received her Bachelor of Science from the University of Kansas in 1991 and her Juris Doctorate from the University of Oklahoma College of Law in 1994.

 

Ms. McAmis began her legal career by serving as an Assistant Attorney General for the Oklahoma Attorney General's Office.   Ms. McAmis worked in the Litigation Division and represented the State of Oklahoma in all aspects of civil litigation in both State and Federal Courts.  Her caseload consisted of cases ranging from civil rights litigation to governmental tort claims.

 

Ms. McAmis next served as an Assistant District Attorney for Lincoln and Pottawatomie Counties.  She was the director of the Lincoln County Office and specialized in the prosecution of child sexual and physical abuse and adult sex crimes.  During her tenure in Lincoln and Pottawatomie Counties, Ms. McAmis was selected as the Outstanding Legal Advocate by the National Association of Counsel for Children and received the Champion for Children award presented by the Oklahoma Foster Parents Association.

 

Ms. McAmis then served an Assistant District Attorney for the Oklahoma County District Attorney's Office.  She was named the Chief of the Sex Crimes/Child Abuse Unit.  Ms. McAmis was responsible for handling all aspects of the county's child abuse homicides, from the filing of charges through the completion of the jury trials.   She also trained and supervised a team of attorneys in the filing and prosecution of all of the county's sex crimes and child abuse cases. 

 

In over twelve years as a prosecutor, Ms. McAmis tried more than 150 jury trials.  As a result of her exemplary record, Ms. McAmis was asked to serve as a guest faculty member at the National Advocacy Center in South Carolina, a guest faculty member for the American Prosecutors Research Institute, and as a presenter at numerous local and national conferences.  She was also nominated for Assistant District Attorney of the Year by the Oklahoma District Attorney's Council and Children's Legal Advocate of the Year by the American Bar Association. 

 

After her tenure as a prosecutor, Ms. McAmis became a partner in the Wilkinson McAmis Law Firm.  Ms. McAmis now practices in the areas of employment law, commercial litigation, and all aspects of civil litigation.  She has continued to present and provide continuing legal education to other lawyers at local and statewide conferences.  Ms. McAmis' most recent presentation is entitled Building your Civil Trial Skills: How to Present Your Case at Trial.

 

Ms. McAmis is a member of the Oklahoma Bar Association and is admitted to practice in all Oklahoma State and Federal Courts, including the Northern, Western, and Eastern Districts, and the Tenth Circuit Court of Appeals.

 

Ms. McAmis and her husband are the proud parents of a son who is a senior at the University of Oklahoma and a member of the Pride of Oklahoma Marching Band, and 7 year old twins who are in the second grade.  Ms. McAmis is a member of the First United Methodist Church of Bixby and the Bixby Chamber of Commerce.  She stays very active in local school and community activities.

 

Ms. McAmis' past statewide and local service includes:  President of the Lincoln County Bar Association for five years, Executive Member of the Statewide Post Adjudication Review Board (appointed by the Governor),  member of the Statewide Child Death Review Board, member of the Board of Directors and first female member of the Chandler Lions Club, Coach for the Oklahoma High School Mock Trial Program, member of the National Association of Counsel for Children, Advisory Board Member and Team Leader for the Oklahoma County Child Abuse Response and Evaluation (CARE) Center, Advisory Board Member for the Oklahoma County Domestic Violence Task Force, Advisory Board Member for Red Rock Behavioral Health Services, Chandler Business and Professional Women, Executive Team Member for the Lincoln County Coalition for the Prevention of Child Abuse and Domestic Violence, Instructor for the Reserve Police Academy, Advisory Board Member for the National Armory Restoration Committee, and member of the Chandler Teen Pregnancy Prevention Committee.
