We have over 20 years of combined legal experience, handling criminal law and defense cases, family law matters, including divorce and child custody cases, professional licensing defense and, more recently, Michigan Medical Marijuana Defense and Licensure. We can pretty much handle any criminal case, family law dispute or professional licensing complaint that they can throw at us. We do some other boutique things too, but we prefer a sit down to discuss unique cases that pique our interest.

Tom Kuiper is an experienced litigator with proficiency in a variety of cases and forums. He practices in State district, circuit, probate, federal and appellate courts, and in arbitration and mediation settings. He represents a variety of clients, from billion-dollar corporations in commercial litigation disputes to the individual involved in a personal dispute or family breakup. He also mediates a wide variety of cases. Although the issues and forums may differ, Tom's approach remains the same: To relate to people, to communicate difficult legal concepts and information in a clear and simple manner, and to work on a personal level with the client. Tom is married and has six children. He enjoys sports, and activities with his children, including coaching various youth sports teams.

Michael L. Bauchan, Juris Doctor (J.D.) 1970 and Bachelor of Electrical Engineering (B.E.E.) 1966, says "Call us FIRST. If you didn't, at least call us SECOND for FREE second opinion." Michael L. Bauchan has been a licensed attorney at the same location since 1971. He founded Bauchan Law Offices, P.C. September 17, 1971 when he bought the office of a retiring attorney, Robert O'Boyle. Mr. Bauchan incorporated his firm June 1, 1973. Our building has been a law office for well over half a century.

Attorney Charles Ali Everage has more than 20 years of experience as a civil litigator. He is a passionate advocate for injured workers, the disabled applying for Social Security Disability benefits, and families experiencing a wrongful death. Originally from Montgomery, Alabama, he was admitted to practice in Alabama in 1998 before relocating to Charlotte in 2003. Mr. Everage is a proud graduate of Florida A&M University in 1995 and graduated law school from Georgetown University Law in 1998. In addition to being licensed in Alabama and North Carolina, Mr. Everage is admitted to practice in all three federal courts in North Carolina and Alabama, the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Ohio, the Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals and the Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals.

Dudley Witt is the attorney that other attorneys want as a partner in the courtroom. He’s adept at civil, criminal and business cases, and he possesses deep talent, an extraordinary work ethic and a wide-ranging knowledge of the law. Throughout his exceptional legal career, he’s been an attorney who thrives on handling complex cases and devising and delivering strategies that help clients in difficult situations. Dudley oversees the firm’s civil practice, ensuring that every client gets the benefits of his vast experience in preparing for trial or in negotiations for settlements. He has handled wrongful death suits, business disputes and civil racketeering cases, among others, representing clients in state and federal court. He is a gifted legal strategist who has successfully argued cases before the N.C. Court of Appeals and the N.C. Supreme Court. He also has an active practice representing attorneys before the N.C. State Bar and working with the firm’s other attorneys handling cases before the N.C. Judicial Standards Commission. Dudley was born in Napoleon, Ohio, where both his parents were attorneys. He received his undergraduate degree from Wake Forest University in 1980 and his J.D. from Wake Forest University School of Law in 1983. He joined the firm in 1988 and became a partner in 1990. He has an AV Preeminent rating from Martindale-Hubbell and was selected as a Top-Rated Lawyer by Top Lawyers of North Carolina for 2014. Dudley is a frequent lecturer on legal ethics, disciplinary matters, and the interplay between civil and criminal proceedings. He has also been a supervising attorney for the clinical program at Wake Forest University School of Law.

Attorney Sheila White Chavis joined Brent Adams & Associates in 2004 and is now an owner/partner in the firm. She is a graduate of Duke University and was a fellow at the Woodrow Wilson Institute of Public Policy and International Affairs at the University of California-Berkeley. When she’s not hard at work on workers’ compensation litigation, she spends time with her family. Her husband is an active equestrian and the manager of Triangle Horse Sports in Raleigh. They have three sons: Kyle, Mekhi, and Logan. Attorney Chavis has been admitted to practice before all North Carolina trial and appellate courts as well as the United States District Court for the Eastern District of North Carolina.

Attorney Vance Jennings joined Brent Adams & Associates in 2004 and is now an owner/partner in the law firm. His practice mostly concentrates on Social Security Disability law, ERISA short and long-term disability claims, and private short and long-term disability claims. Vance is certified by the NC State Bar as a Board Certified Specialist in Social Security Disability law. Only a select number of attorneys receive this honor. It is not easy to become a Board Certified Social Security Benefits Specialist. Attorneys must pass a written test and take continuing education courses. They must be recommended by their peers and work substantially on cases in the Social Security Disability field. Attorney Jennings rose to the challenge and has been a specialist in this area of law since 2010. He uses his expert SSDI legal knowledge to prepare organized, strong cases for hearings and appeals. He has successfully represented thousands of clients.

Elaine Wilson is a practicing lawyer in the state of North Carolina.

After graduating from the University of North Carolina Law School with honors, Joel spent two years as a law clerk on the United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit – one year as a staff attorney and one year as a clerk to the Honorable William B. Traxler, Jr. Joel has since spent his entire career helping clients who faced civil litigation in a wide range of practice areas. During that time, Joel has helped a broad spectrum of clients - from individuals to companies in the manufacturing, communications, healthcare, and financial services industries, just to name a few. In addition to his experience in the trial courts, Joel has helped numerous clients in the appellate courts. Norm Daniels is an Attorney at Law and Certified Public Accountant and is licensed in West Virginia, Kentucky, North Carolina, and Pennsylvania. He has over 40 years of experience and has been selected by his peers to have an AV Preeminent rating from Martindale Hubble and to be included in "The Best Lawyers in America" and "Super Lawyers."
