Our founder, Kevin M. Maki has been fighting for the legal rights of accident victims since 2006. Originally from Ventura County, Mr. Maki went to the University of California – Santa Barbara for a degree in Law and Society. His first job was with a leading insurance company in California. This work experience allowed Mr. Maki to gain valuable experience with injury claims. While working full-time, Mr. Maki attended law school. After graduation, he joined the legal department of the insurance company, with a focus on handling personal injury claims. One of the premier panel law firms was impressed by Mr. Maki’s work and recruited him to open a new office in Conejo Valley. Working at the insurance company and the law firm allowed Mr. Marki to handle thousands of lawsuits and provided him with exposure to a variety of claims and lawsuits. This includes car accident claims, bad faith insurance claims, dog bite claims, wrongful death claims, motorcycle accident claims, slip and fall accident claims, and more. While Mr. Maki achieved remarkable success working at insurance companies, he grew weary of going up against the accident victims. Mr. Maki felt he needed to help the accident victims rather than try to make them settle for the lowest possible compensation. That is when he founded the Maki Law Firm.

Roy E. Miller was raised in San Diego, California and attended the University of Arizona graduating in 1989 with a degree in Political Science. He is a member of the Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity. He graduated from California Western School of Law in San Diego and was admitted to the California bar in 1994. After two years of practice in San Diego, Roy moved to Lakeport, California. Following two years of insurance defense and criminal defense practice, Mr. Miller joined the Lake County District Attorney's Office as a prosecutor. He handled the county's domestic violence and sexual assault caseload as well as vehicular homicide cases and white collar crime. After spending five years as a prosecutor in Lake County, Mr. Miller joined Monte Hansen in Santa Rosa, California and together they formed the Hansen & Miller Law Firm. Mr. Miller handles all criminal defense matters including homicides, domestic violence, drug sales, white collar crime, gang cases, and DUI cases. He practices both in California state court and the U.S. Federal District Court for the Northern District (SF Bay Area) and the Eastern District (Sacramento Area). He lives near Santa Rosa and is married with two children. In addition to sponsoring activities for the FFA and 4H foundations, Hansen & Miller Law Firm also supports youth sports in the Sonoma County Area.

Gerard earned his Juris Doctor from the Widener University School of Law and went on to focus his practice around criminal defense and civil litigation of all kinds. He has significant experience representing clients before trial courts, administrative judges, and appellate courts. With more than 30 years of experience, he has become a respected member of the legal community who is well known for his friendly personality.

Brian Coleman is the Managing Partner of Locklin & Coleman, PLLC and a Virginia personal injury attorney with deep courtroom experience, strategic insight, and a strong record of professional recognition. He began his legal career as a Judicial Law Clerk in the Prince William County Circuit Court and later spent seven years as a trial attorney for a major insurance company defending complex injury and wrongful death claims. Since returning to represent injured individuals in 2017, he has drawn on that background in cases involving car accidents, truck accidents, premises liability, catastrophic injuries, and wrongful death. Mr. Coleman has been recognized by Best Lawyers, Super Lawyers, National Trial Lawyers, Northern Virginia Magazine, and Elite Lawyer. He is also a Life Member of the Million Dollar Advocates Forum and is part of a firm that supports students through the Helping Others Heal Scholarship.

Christopher Frayer earned his Bachelor of Business Administration from Northwood University in 1991. He later earned his Juris Doctor degree in 2001 from Western Michigan University Thomas M. Cooley Law School. Chris joined the firm in February 2024, focusing primarily on medical malpractice, nursing home neglect, birth injury, civil rights, and governmental claims. Prior to joining Buckfire & Buckfire, P.C., Chris served as a medical malpractice attorney at a firm in metro Detroit. He previously represented healthcare companies, professionals, and corporate clients litigating medical malpractice cases in state and federal courts.

Nicolas A. Vesprini earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology in 2000 from Oakland University. He earned his Juris Doctor degree in 2003 from the University of Detroit – Mercy School of Law where he served as the Executive Director of Moot Court Board, represented the law school in national moot court competition, and was an active member of the Student Bar Association Board of Governors, and a Book Award recipient. Nicolas is admitted to practice law in the State of Michigan, the United States District Court of the Eastern District of Michigan, and the United States District Court for the Western District of Michigan. Prior to joining Buckfire & Buckfire, P.C., Nicolas served as a partner at a preeminent insurance defense law firm with a focus on defense litigation in catastrophic first-party automobile claims, third-party auto negligence, personal injury, premises liability and general negligence. He represented various national clients and several major insurance carriers throughout the state of Michigan. He has tried cases in both state and federal court and has argued before the Michigan Court of Appeals.

Alexander Begum is a founding shareholder in the Begum Law Group with offices in San Antonio, Brownsville and McAllen. Mr. Begum completed his undergraduate studies at Trinity University in San Antonio. There he obtained a Bachelor of Science Degree in finance and marketing. Following the completion of his undergraduate studies, Alex acquired a Masters of Business Administration in Finance. After getting his MBA, he utilized his excellent education to help others by working as a financial adviser. However, knowing that in his heart, he wanted to be able to do more, he entered law school. Mr. Begum received his Doctor of Jurisprudence from Texas Tech University in Lubbock. After graduating law school, Alex did not cease in his quest for learning and improving his skills. He later attended Harvard University where he studied Finance and Legal Writing. In 2010 Mr. Begum was chosen to be among the elite few that are accepted into the Trial Lawyers College. This intense program is intended to push each individual student toward a greater understanding of themselves and others. Every attorney that graduates from the Trial Lawyers College walks away knowing they have improved not only their skills as attorneys but have improved their “personhood” as well. Attending such a program is not an easy task. Alexander Begum made the choice to be away from his home, family and law practice to devote the time to attend and graduate from the Trial Lawyers College. He willingly made this sacrifice for a singular purpose. He wanted to be better able to help his clients and serve his community. Alexander Begum’s career in law was born of a true desire to help others. This desire has not abated. The art of giving is something Alex practices so routinely that it has become an integral part of his professional and personal life.
