About Shane

Shane A. Henry, Esq. is licensed to practice law in the state of Florida. During his legal career, Mr. Henry has been very successful as a personal injury and freelance general practice attorney. He has gained a wealth of experience in personal injury law throughout his twelve years in the legal field by managing hundreds of plaintiff’s injury claims for both pre-litigation and litigation matters. While earning his law degree at Florida Coastal School of Law in Jacksonville, FL, Mr. Henry served as Vice President and Pro Bono Chair of the Entertainment Law Society, Vice President of the Sports Law Society, Legislature for the Student Bar Association, and Student Director for Florida Coastal School of Law’s Pro Bono Department. He remained heavily involved with the community and pro bono opportunities and upon completion of his Juris Doctor, he honored by the Pro Bono Honors Program. Mr. Henry gained his Bachelor of Science in Political Science and Master of Applied Social Sciences in Public Administration at Florida Agricultural & Mechanical University in Tallahassee, FL. While accomplishing this, he was a member of the Hatchet Pre-Law Society. He was a dean’s list awardee on several occasions and graduated Cum Laude in his graduating classes.

Questions & Answers

Please describe a case in the last year or two where you made a big difference.

I had a close friend who was involved in an auto accident. They came away with pretty substantial injuries. I was able to assist him with getting the treatment/surgery he needed, and he walked away with great money in his pocket after the settlement. It was particularly satisfying not only because he was my first client, but also because he had a very negative experience with an attorney in the past. It meant a lot to me to influence his perception of attorneys in a positive way.

How did you build a successful practice?

By always remembering who I work for. Client's are everything to ANY practice. That's why developing a great relationship with them is instrumental to any practice. My motto/slogan is "Building Foundations With The People We Serve." A strong foundation with our client's means a stronger foundation for my business as a whole.

What should clients look for in a lawyer?

A great rapport and trust. Anyone has the ability to do the job, no matter the size of the firm. Any licensed attorney has the ability to be successful. It is all about whether or not you can work with the attorney for the duration of the case. Relationships are important in this business and good relationships develop a level of trust. Trust makes it easier to work a client's case because they believe in your ability to do the job success

How important is local knowledge to the success of your cases?

It is extremely important. Every place is different. That means different judges, state attorneys, jury of your peers, etc. It is important to understand the area you serve. Whereas one county may be liberal, a neighboring county can be extremely conservative. Local knowledge is likely to dictate how an attorney works a particular case.

What information can you provide in a free phone consultation?

All contingency based services come with a free phone consultation; in addition, I do not get paid unless the client gets paid for contingency based services. In addition, I do provide a free 15 minute phone consultation for my other services.

What information do you need in a free phone consultation?

Contingency Fee Cases: Date of the incident (Car Accident/Wrongful Death), Date you found out about your injuries (Medical Malpractice) What happened Were you at fault/Who was cited (Car Accidents), Have you received an expert opinion regarding the cause of your injury (Medical Malpractice) Do you have an incident report (Car Accident/Wrongful Death/Slip & Fall), Do you have copies of the expert's opinion (Medical Malpractice) Are there any identifiable witnesses Have you went to the hospital or sought any other medical attention (Car Accident/Slip & Fall) Non-contingency Fee Cases: Any and all documents related to the case Charges (Criminal), Allegations (Civil) Any identifiable witnesses

What differentiates you from other lawyers in your community?

I am a very grassroots, client-oriented type of individual. I stay connected with the clients I serve and always maintain an open line of communication. Clients are the backbone of any law firm and I always want my clients to know that any success I experience is because of them.

What is the most rewarding aspect of your job?

Having the ability to help those in need. This is the best way that I know how to help others, and it is very rewarding to experience success with the clients I serve.

What are your other interests in addition to law?

Sports. I have been a huge sports fan since my youth. I played sports in high school and stayed involved in intramural sports in college.

Are you involved in your community?

I recently moved to SE Florida so I have not been able to get as involved as I would like at the moment, but I was very actively involved in the community at my prior location. I have done a lot of pro bono work throughout my time in law school and will remain active in pro bono work (both legal and civil volunteer work) in my community as long as I can breathe.
