About Steven
Steve was born in Elgin, Illinois. He graduated cum laude from Louisiana State University in Shreveport in 1987 with a Bachelor of Science degree in economics. Steve received the university's Outstanding Economics Graduate award and was a member of the Omicron Delta Kappa national honor fraternity. Steve then attended Southern Methodist University School of Law where he was a leading articles editor of the International Lawyer and a semi-finalist in the school's moot court competition. Steve graduated from Southern Methodist University School of Law in 1990.
Steve started practicing in 1990 at Andrews & Kurth, L.L.P., where he specialized in complex commercial litigation. He has tried jury and non-jury cases in both state and federal court and briefed and argued appeals before the Texas Courts of Appeals and the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit. Steve also has experience in arbitration. Recently, Steve has handled very large cases involving securities fraud and related accounting issues. Steve has handled matters involving insurance and insurance coverage issues, represented investors in organizing and litigating consent solicitations of real estate limited partnerships, represented various banks in lender liability and other cases for financial institutions, and handled numerous oil and gas, real estate and other business-related disputes. Steve is licensed to practice before all Texas and Nebraska state courts, the United States District Courts for the Southern, Western and Northern Districts of Texas and the District of Nebraska.
Steve's pro bono commitment is evidenced by the work as a children's rights coordinator for the Alexander Graham Bell Foundation for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing. Steve represents parents of children with hearing impairments in dealing with educational issues.
