QUESTIONNAIRE
Recently, I represented a family who was severely impacted by a devastating car accident in Las Vegas. The case was particularly challenging because my client sustained serious injuries that required extensive medical treatment, and the insurance company initially attempted to minimize the severity of the injuries and offered an inadequate settlement. As a Marine Corps veteran who served in Operation Iraqi Freedom, I approached this case with the same dedication and determination I learned in the military. I meticulously gathered evidence, worked closely with medical experts to document the full extent of my client's injuries, and aggressively negotiated with the insurance company. Understanding the significant impact this accident had on the family's financial stability and quality of life, I refused to settle for less than what my client deserved. Through persistent advocacy and thorough case preparation, I successfully secured a settlement that was nearly five times the insurance company's initial offer. This compensation covered all medical expenses, lost wages, and provided additional funds for future care needs. More importantly, it gave the family the financial security they needed to focus on recovery without worrying about mounting medical bills. This case exemplifies my commitment to fighting for accident victims against large insurance companies - a mission that drove me to choose personal injury law after graduating from UNLV's law school. It's not just about winning cases; it's about making a real difference in people's lives when they need it most.
How did you build a successful practice? My path to building a successful practice has been shaped by diverse legal experience and strong mentorship. After beginning my career in civil litigation, I had the opportunity to transition into criminal defense when I joined forces with Nicholas Wooldridge, a highly respected Nevada attorney. Working alongside Nicholas, who is ranked among America's Top 100 Trial Lawyers, I honed my trial skills and developed a deeper understanding of complex litigation. After a brief period away from the firm, Nicholas approached me with the vision of expanding the firm's practice areas and offered me the opportunity to lead the criminal defense division. This experience proved invaluable as it enhanced my ability to analyze cases from multiple angles and strengthened my negotiation skills - capabilities that have been crucial in my personal injury practice. Building a successful practice has been rooted in three core principles: specialized focus, genuine client care, and relentless preparation. Unlike firms that try to handle every type of case, we deliberately focus on select practice areas where we can provide truly expert representation. Being a Las Vegas native and having attended LVA High School right across from our current office, I have deep roots in this community and understand the unique challenges our clients face. Success has also come from our firm's commitment to being accessible and transparent with clients. We ensure every client has direct access to their attorney, and we take pride in explaining complex legal processes in terms clients can understand. Our approach of 'Under Promise, Over Deliver, and Out Perform' isn't just a motto—it's how we've built our reputation case by case. Most importantly, I've learned that success comes from treating each client like family and fighting for them as if their case were my own. This philosophy has not only led to significant victories for our clients but has also resulted in a practice built largely on referrals from satisfied clients who trust us to help their friends and family in their times of need.
What should clients look for in a lawyer? When choosing a lawyer, clients should look for several key qualities that indicate both professional excellence and genuine commitment to client care: First, seek an attorney with focused expertise rather than a generalist. For instance, at our firm, we deliberately concentrate on six specific types of personal injury cases because we believe in mastering these areas completely rather than being a jack of all trades. This specialized knowledge often proves crucial in achieving optimal outcomes for clients. Second, look for a lawyer who prioritizes clear communication and accessibility. Your attorney should be able to explain complex legal concepts in understandable terms and keep you informed throughout your case. You shouldn't feel left in the dark or have to chase down updates about your case. Third, evaluate the attorney's track record, but don't just focus on case outcomes. Look at how they've achieved those results. Are they known for aggressive negotiation with insurance companies? Do they prepare thoroughly for trial? These aspects often reveal more about an attorney's effectiveness than just settlement numbers. Fourth, consider the attorney's investment in your case. Your lawyer should have the resources and dedication to properly investigate your claim, work with expert witnesses when needed, and take your case to trial if necessary. They shouldn't be looking for quick settlements that benefit their bottom line rather than your interests. Finally, and perhaps most importantly, trust your instincts about the attorney's sincerity and commitment. You want a lawyer who treats you like family, not just another case number. This personal investment often makes the difference between adequate representation and exceptional advocacy that truly fights for your best interests. Remember, when you're dealing with serious injuries or significant losses, your choice of attorney can impact your life for years to come. Don't hesitate to ask tough questions during your initial consultation and ensure you feel confident in both their expertise and their commitment to your case.
How important is local knowledge to the success of your cases?Local knowledge is absolutely crucial to successfully representing clients in Las Vegas and throughout Nevada. As a Las Vegas native who graduated from LVA High School - which happens to be right across from our current office - my deep understanding of our community provides distinct advantages in handling cases. This local expertise matters on multiple levels. First, we understand the unique aspects of Nevada law that can significantly impact personal injury cases. For instance, Nevada's two-year statute of limitations and specific insurance requirements create a framework that demands local expertise to navigate effectively. Second, our local knowledge extends to the practical aspects of building strong cases. We know the best medical providers in the area who can both treat our clients and provide credible testimony if needed. We're familiar with local accident hotspots, traffic patterns, and road conditions that might contribute to accidents. This detailed knowledge often proves invaluable during accident investigations and case preparation. Third, having practiced extensively in local courts, we understand the tendencies of local judges, the expectations of local juries, and the most effective strategies for success in our jurisdiction. This familiarity with local court procedures and personalities can make a significant difference in case outcomes. Finally, our deep roots in the Las Vegas community mean we have a vested interest in serving our neighbors well. We understand the unique challenges faced by both residents and visitors in our city, from navigating busy tourist areas to dealing with local insurance companies. This local perspective helps us better advocate for our clients and anticipate potential obstacles in their cases. Local knowledge isn't just about knowing the law - it's about understanding the community, its people, and how to effectively fight for justice within our specific legal environment. This comprehensive local expertise has been a cornerstone of our success in securing favorable outcomes for our clients.
What information can you provide in a free phone consultation?During a free phone consultation, I can provide essential information that helps potential clients understand their rights and options after an injury. Here's what you can expect when you call: First, I'll listen carefully to your situation and ask focused questions about your accident or injury to understand the key details. This helps me identify important legal issues and potential challenges in your case. I can then provide a preliminary assessment of your case's strength and explain the relevant Nevada laws that may affect your claim. For instance, I'll explain important deadlines like Nevada's two-year statute of limitations for personal injury claims and discuss how our state's comparative negligence laws might apply to your situation. We'll discuss what types of compensation might be available in your case, whether that's coverage for medical expenses, lost wages, property damage, or pain and suffering. I can also explain potential challenges you might face with insurance companies and how our firm would approach these challenges. I'll outline our firm's approach to handling cases like yours and explain our contingency fee structure, which means you pay nothing unless we win your case. We believe in complete transparency about fees and costs from the very beginning. Most importantly, I'll answer your immediate questions about what steps you should take to protect your rights. This might include advice about medical documentation, communication with insurance companies, or preserving evidence. While we can't provide specific legal advice without a formal attorney-client relationship, this initial consultation gives you valuable information to make an informed decision about your legal options. We're available 24/7 for these consultations because we understand that accidents don't just happen during business hours.
What information do you need in a free phone consultation?During a free phone consultation, I need specific information to provide the most helpful guidance about your case. Here's what helps me understand your situation best: Basic Information: When and where the incident occurred (this is crucial due to Nevada's two-year statute of limitations) The type of accident or incident (since we specialize in six specific areas of personal injury law) Whether a police report or incident report was filed Your current medical status and any treatments you've received Details About the Incident: How the accident or injury occurred Who was involved Whether there were any witnesses Any immediate communications with insurance companies Photos or documentation you may have collected Medical Information: Types of injuries sustained Medical facilities where you've been treated Whether you're still receiving treatment Any diagnosed long-term impacts Insurance Details: Whether you've been contacted by insurance companies Any statements you've given to insurers Insurance information for all parties involved Any settlement offers you've received While these details are helpful, don't worry if you don't have all this information immediately available. The key is to start the conversation so we can identify what additional information might be needed to protect your rights and build a strong case. Most importantly, I need to understand your concerns and goals. Every case is unique, and knowing what matters most to you helps me tailor our legal strategy to your specific needs.
What differentiates you from other lawyers in your community? What sets me apart from other lawyers in Las Vegas is a combination of my unique background, specialized focus, and client-centered approach to practicing law. My journey as a Las Vegas native who served in the United States Marine Corps during Operation Iraqi Freedom has instilled core values that I bring to every case: discipline, dedication, and an unwavering commitment to fighting for what's right. This military background has shaped my approach to legal battles - I'm not afraid to stand up to large insurance companies and corporations, and I bring the same level of strategic planning and determination to each client's case. Unlike firms that try to handle every type of legal matter, we deliberately focus on six specific types of personal injury cases. This specialized approach allows us to develop deep expertise in these areas rather than spreading ourselves thin. We believe in sticking to what we know best to ensure our clients receive truly expert representation. Our firm's philosophy of 'Under Promise, Over Deliver, and Out Perform' isn't just a slogan - it's how we approach every case. When clients choose our firm, they get direct access to their attorney. I personally handle my cases rather than passing them off to junior associates or case managers. This hands-on approach ensures that every client receives the attention and expertise they deserve. Another distinguishing factor is our transparent and honest approach to client communication. We take the time to thoroughly explain legal processes and keep our clients informed every step of the way. We believe an educated client is an empowered client, and we make sure our clients understand their rights and options throughout their case. Finally, I bring a genuine personal investment to each case. Having grown up in Las Vegas and graduated from LVA High School right across from our current office, I have deep roots in this community. I understand that my clients are my neighbors, and I fight for them as if they were family. This personal connection to our community drives me to not just win cases, but to make a real difference in people's lives when they need it most.
What is the most rewarding aspect of your job?The most rewarding aspect of my job is helping people rebuild their lives after experiencing traumatic accidents or injuries. As someone who served in the Marine Corps, I've always been driven by a desire to protect and serve others. Personal injury law allows me to continue that mission by standing up for people when they're most vulnerable. There's nothing quite like the moment when you can tell a client that we've successfully resolved their case. It's not just about the settlement numbers – it's about seeing the relief in their eyes when they realize they can focus on healing without worrying about mounting medical bills or lost wages. When a client can finally move forward with their life after a devastating accident, knowing they have the resources they need for recovery, that's when I feel the true impact of our work. What makes this especially meaningful is the relationships we build with our clients along the way. Every client at our firm is treated like family, and we often stay in touch long after their cases are resolved. Seeing former clients recover, return to work, and get their lives back on track reminds me why I chose this field after returning from Operation Iraqi Freedom. As a Las Vegas native, there's also immense satisfaction in serving my community and holding negligent parties accountable. When we successfully resolve a case, we're not just helping one client – we're often creating ripple effects that make our community safer by encouraging better practices and responsible behavior. The legal profession can be challenging, but knowing that our work makes a tangible difference in people's lives makes every challenge worthwhile. Whether it's helping a family after a serious car accident or standing up for someone who's been wronged, being able to provide both justice and hope to our clients is incredibly fulfilling.
What are your other interests in addition to law? While law is my passion, I maintain several interests that help me stay balanced and connected to our Las Vegas community. As an avid hockey player and devoted fan of the Vegas Golden Knights, you'll often find me either on the ice or cheering at T-Mobile Arena. The teamwork, strategy, and discipline required in hockey mirror many of the skills I use in my legal practice. I'm also a self-proclaimed foodie who enjoys exploring Las Vegas's dynamic culinary scene. Our city has evolved into one of the world's premier dining destinations, and I take pleasure in discovering new restaurants along Las Vegas Boulevard and throughout the valley. This interest helps me stay connected to our city's growth and development, and it's a great way to unwind after intense days in court or negotiations. Family plays a central role in my life outside of work. As a devoted son and brother, I prioritize family time and understand firsthand why fighting for families affected by accidents is so important. My family ties to Las Vegas run deep, having grown up here and graduated from Las Vegas Academy High School. My military service in the Marine Corps during Operation Iraqi Freedom continues to influence my interests today. I remain involved with veterans' causes and maintain connections with the military community here in Las Vegas, particularly given our proximity to Nellis Air Force Base. These diverse interests help me maintain perspective and connect with clients from all walks of life. They remind me that behind every case file is a real person with their own passions, responsibilities, and challenges - something I never lose sight of in my practice.
Are you involved in your community?Community involvement is a cornerstone of who I am, both personally and professionally. As a Las Vegas native who now serves my hometown community through law, I believe in actively contributing to making our city stronger and more connected. Beginning in 2025, our firm will host quarterly community events including a support services resource fair, a pet adoption day, a neighborhood block party, and a teen driver safety challenge. Each event is designed to bring our community together while providing valuable resources and fun opportunities for Las Vegas residents. As a Marine Corps veteran, I remain actively involved in veterans' causes and local initiatives that support our military community, particularly given our proximity to Nellis Air Force Base. This connection to our armed forces community helps me better understand and serve the unique needs of our veteran population. Growing up here, attending LVA High School, and choosing to build my career here has given me a deep appreciation for our community. I believe we have a responsibility to contribute to the city that has given us so much. This commitment to community service isn't just about giving back – it helps me better understand and serve the people who trust us with their legal needs. Whether I'm participating in local events, supporting veteran causes, or mentoring young people interested in legal careers, I strive to make a positive impact beyond the courtroom.
