I am an attorney located in the Mobile/Baldwin Area, operating a civil law practice. I am experienced and knowledgeable in matters of personal injury, nursing home, and medical malpractice. Kirby Farris, the managing partner of the law firm Farris, Riley & Pitt, LLP, has long been an avid believer in pursing justice for those injured and killed as the result of a personal injury. Mr. Farris received his undergraduate degree from the University of North Alabama and his law degree from Birmingham School of Law. After graduation from law school in 1994, he went on to serve at Birmingham School of Law as an associate professor of torts, civil procedure, and agency & partnership law, while also working to establish his legal practice. He was quickly rewarded with the trust and respect of his legal colleagues which allowed him to establish the law firm of Farris, Riley & Pitt in 1996, based largely on the referral of plaintiff cases from his legal peers throughout Alabama. Mr. Farris focuses his practice on railroad litigation (FELA), FLSA (Fair Labor Standards Act), Personal Injury and wrongful death. He has been awarded numerous multi-million dollar settlements, and handles FLSA class actions all over the U.S. Mr. Farris is a member of the American, Alabama and Birmingham Bar Associations. He is also active in the Alabama Association for Justice and the American Association for Justice. Mr. Farris is a native of Lynn, Alabama and presently resides in Birmingham, Alabama with his wife Tammy and their three children. In addition to practicing law, Mr. Farris along with his law partner, Ken Riley, underwrite a legal call in show, LawCall, which airs live every Sunday night on Fox 6 WBRC. LawCall features guest attorneys from all over the State and allows viewers across Birmingham the opportunity to have their legal questions answered live.

One of the best cross-examinations I have ever heard was done by Ralph Hornsby, Jr. He and Bud Watson were trying a highly publicized nursing home case. The courtroom was full of spectators every day. Law firms were sending summer interns and associates to watch because of the high level of trial skills on both sides and because of the expected verdict. Ralph, Jr. was cross-examining the manager of the nursing home. He knew she had six points of vulnerability. He hit them. He was gentlemanly, but he was forceful. It was really a professional job. When the case was over, a verdict of over five million dollars came and Bud Watson left a copy of that cross-examination transcript in Ralph, Jr.s’ office chair with a note that he should save it for his grand kids. That was early in Ralph, Jr.’s career with the firm. He is not much older than I am and had graduated with a great record from the University of Alabama, School of Law, only a few years before I did but he was handling high level litigation and doing it with real skill. Things seem to come easy to Ralph, Jr. He has a great personality and nearly always gets more in negotiations than others might because he has such a great way of interacting with people. Ralph, Jr. and I have tried a number of cases together and that personality is always an asset with the Court and with jurors. Ralph has achieved seven figure results in numerous negotiations but more importantly he has had that happen many times in court. It’s not just personality though. Ralph, Jr. is a great student of the law and, as that cross-examination demonstrated, a highly competent trial lawyer. He is a graduate of the National College of Trial Advocacy, he’s been inducted into the American Board of Trial Advocates, and has been selected into Super Lawyers. But even more significant in this business, Ralph, Jr. really cares about his clients and wants to help them. That’s the part about him I most want to emulate. Ralph graduated high in his class at the University of Alabama, School of Law in 1992. Ralph, Jr. is a member of the Alabama State Bar and is admitted to practice before the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Alabama and the U.S. Supreme Court. He is a member of the Huntsville-Madison County Bar Association and the Alabama Association for Justice. He also serves as a Barrister in the Madison County American Inns of Court. Ralph is married to Betty. They have twin girls and a son.

Bo Bruner is a member in the firm and has been lead and/or co-counsel in numerous cases resulting in multi-million dollar verdicts and settlements, some in excess of ten million dollars. He has successfully handled cases involving serious personal injury, wrongful death, defective/dangerous products, eighteen-wheeler accidents, dangerous roadsides, industrial accidents, pharmaceutical injuries, consumer fraud and environmental contamination. Mr. Bruner is certified by the National Board of Trial Advocacy as a Civil Trial Advocate. Requirements for board certification include, documentation of significant trial experience, peer review by lawyers and judges and the successful completion of an extensive written examination. Mr. Bruner is rated “AV Preeminent” by Martindale Hubble. This is the highest rating available and indicates “that a lawyer’s peers rank him or her at the highest level of professional excellence.” In 2012 Mr. Bruner was selected by the National Trial Lawyers for membership in the “Top 40 under 40.” Membership in this group is limited to the top 40 trial lawyers under the age of 40 in the state of Alabama who “exemplify superior qualifications, trial results and leadership.” Alabama Super Lawyers Magazine selected Mr. Bruner as a Rising Star in the field of Plaintiff’s Personal Injury Law in both 2011 and 2012.

Will attended law school at Jones School of Law in Montgomery, and he received his Juris Doctorate in 2001. Will represents clients involved in automobile collisions, wrongful death cases, premise liability claims, general civil litigation, probate matters, juvenile matters and criminal cases.
