Brian Ritchey was formerly with Ritchey & Ritchey, PA, a family law firm established in 1959 which served both corporate and individual clients in the greater Birmingham area and across Alabama. Over his professional career, Brian has also worked for several software companies that serve the legal community as well as working with Reed Smith as a Senior KM Analyst. After the passing of his uncle Ferris S. Ritchey, Jr. and the retirement of his father and mentor, Albert E. Ritchey, Brian established Ritchey Legal, PLLC, in 2019 to carry on his family's legacy in serving clients with a passion for representing clients with an unwavering commitment to excellent service with a welcoming, informal, family atmosphere.

What should clients look for in a lawyer?
You should write a summary with references to any documentation prior to speaking with any attorney. Ask questions about the process of the case, how they bill, what cost estimate they can make so you know what you are getting into, and ask about how often they communicate and whether they share every filed document with you and how they provide it to you. The more questions you ask, the better feel you will have on how they will approach your case.
What information can you provide in a free phone consultation?
Depending on the information provided, I can either provide a strategy to accomplish the needs of the client or give an assessment based on what I have and request additional information to develop a strategy.
What information do you need in a free phone consultation?
As much information as you know. I recommend always writing out a summary, in chronological order, detailing every event, good or bad, from as far back as you can recall. Any documents that support the summary should be attached and referenced in the summary.
What differentiates you from other lawyers in your community?
Attorneys are under an ethical obligation to state that we are no better than any other attorney and that all attorneys in good standing with the State are equally qualified. Asking a lot of questions to every attorney you meet will help you gage the comfort level and how qualified you feel they are.
What is the most rewarding aspect of your job?
With clients I love, helping them. For clients who drive me nuts, the same.
What are your other interests in addition to law?
I have spent time in professional life working in software and like to stay on top of software trends, particularly in the legal space. I also like photography and videography, kayaking, camping, and spirited discussions.
Are you involved in your community?
I am involved with my local community supporting academics, athletics, and the arts in our schools.
