After obtaining his undergraduate degree from the University of Mississippi, John attended the University of Mississippi School of Law, where he graduated in 2001. While in law school, he was a member of the Moot Court Board and the Mississippi Law Journal. John has been with Markow Walker, P.A., for over 18 years, and he is a shareholder in the firm’s Oxford office. His practice focuses primarily in the areas of civil litigation and workers’ compensation defense. He has worked extensively in matters involving medical malpractice, appellate work, mass tort, workers’ compensation, and various aspects of insurance defense in tort-related matters. He has lectured on specific topics involving subrogation and defense of employers and carriers in workers’ compensation. John is licensed to practice law in both Mississippi and Tennessee. John is a devoted fan of the Ole Miss Rebels, and he has served as the Vice President of the Ole Miss Quarterback Club. John and his wife, Kimberly, reside in Oxford and enjoy attending Ole Miss sporting events and are members of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church.

Courtney is a native Mississippian, born and raised in Clarksdale. She attended the University of Mississippi and obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in 2007. During her undergraduate career, she was inducted into multiple academic societies, including Phi Beta Kappa and Phi Kappa Phi. She was also awarded a Taylor Medal, the highest undergraduate academic award at the University. Courtney went on to attend the University of Mississippi School of Law. In 2010, she graduated cum laude. Courtney became licensed to practice law in the states of Mississippi and Tennessee later that same year. Courtney accepted a position in the Oxford office of Markow Walker, P.A., in April 2011. Courtney’s practice is dedicated to workers’ compensation defense, where she now has over 8 years of experience. Outside of work, Courtney enjoys instructing spin classes, traveling, and spending time with her family and husband, Kevin.

After obtaining his undergraduate degree from the University of Mississippi, Phillip went on to attend the University of Mississippi School of Law. Phillip began his legal career when he joined Markow Walker, P.A., in 2001. He primarily devotes his practice to workers’ compensation defense. He is rated AV preeminent for the Highest Level of Professional Excellence by Martindale-Hubbell and was recognized by Best Lawyers for 2018 and 2019. Phillip and his wife, Margaret Blake, reside in Oxford, Mississippi, and have three children, Caldwell, Tom, and Charles. Phillip and his family are members of First Presbyterian Church in Oxford. Away from work, he enjoys spending time with his children and listening to Van Morrison. Phillip and Tom love cheering on the Ole Miss Rebels and Kansas City Chiefs.
