Plum & Plum

What a great shop, definitely one of my new favorites in downtown New Canaan! Such a great variety of gourmet products, and the owner, Jo, was so kind in giving us samples and helping us to find a cheese that was right for us based on our preferences. Her charcuterie platters are gorgeous, and so many items would make great gifts. Lots of products you can’t typically get in our area! We dined in for lunch and tried a couple sandwiches too, and I’m so glad we did. The turkey practically melted in your mouth, and it’s no wonder their grilled cheese was recognized by The New York Times! I will definitely be recommending this spot to others!

Plum Plums cheese is the best spot for gourmet groceries in Fairfield or Westchester Counties. I’ve been shopping here for many years, since they were based in our little town of Pound Ridge. Yes, Plum Plums has amazing cheeses (the Beaufort d’ete is my favorite), but they also have so much more. For example I love the charcuterie — the bresola and mortadella are my favorites. And they stock amazing dry aged steaks (saves me a trip to the butcher!). Plus I always stock up on little things I like to have around the house like olives, nuts and chocolates. So the vibe is more like a high-end European Epicerie, with one big difference… the owners are super friendly and helpful! They’re always willing to take the time to explain the different offerings, tell the fascinating stories behind each of the cheeses, and even offer samples so you can figure out what you like best. They also have the best grilled cheese you’ve ever tasted. My favorite has Gruyere, Prosciutto and this special mustard that makes for the perfect panini. Paired with their tomato soup it’s a classic, delicious lunch that I grab as a bonus while shopping. I would give Plum Plums my highest recommendation and hope they continue to grown in their gorgeous new space in New Canaan.

Simply a gem of a shop. It not only has an incredible selection of distinctive cheeses but offers up evenings of a cheese tastings curated by individuals or connoisseurs of cheese. The owner truly loves her business and it shows with her enthusiasm. Every now and then you come across a store like this and is truly a must if you come to Pound Ridge.

All of the Five Stars have RESPECTFULLY been earned here. The entire experience is quaint and smothered in discovery. Instead of a cold stone service, the cheese selection along with it's curator certainly hands you a delicious slice of the pie here. If you ask questions, the "cheese for dummies" is wheeled out and pressed into a very short line of robust knowledge. The entire shop's ambiance is inviting and aromatic. "An oasis in the woods." Their cuban stle pressed grill cheese is a must try! A local and at far favorite! Plum Plum, bring in and display the cotton candy grapes...and you will certainly be hand fed "The Jewel of the Nile" here 100% hands down. Bravo!
