Catherine grew up in Flowery Branch, Georgia, graduating from West Hall High School. She attended the University of Georgia, and graduated cum laude with a B.B.A. in Business Management and a minor in Spanish. Catherine attended law school at Mercer University School of Law, graduating magna cum laude, at the top of her class. She was a student editor for both the Mercer Law Review and the Journal of Southern Legal History, and clerked for various judges both in and after law school. She subsequently spent nearly a decade working for one of the nation's largest law firms before co-founding Payne & du Toit. She is licensed in both Georgia and Florida, and has been recognized as a Georgia Super Lawyers Rising Star. She also is a contributing author of Georgia Products Liability, a practitioner's guide to products liability law in Georgia. Catherine believes in giving back to the community. She remains active in juvenile justice issues, recently finishing her service on the Board for youthSpark, Inc., a nonprofit working to transform the lives of youth vulnerable to abuse and exploitation.
