Questions & Answers

Please describe a case in the last year or two where you made a big difference.

We were able to assist a social security disability client by winning her case which allowed her to keep her home as she was facing imminent eviction/foreclosure.

How did you build a successful practice?

By focusing on limited practice areas (workers' compensation, social security disability, SSI and long term disability insurance), I have been able to gain a lot of experience handling these matters. So, I have usually encountered a situation before and am able to handle the case from a perspective of experience. Also, I handle claims from the initial application through the appeal process (including Federal court) as appropriate.

What should clients look for in a lawyer?

It is critical to have a lawyer with years of experience handling your case. While we are not able to win every case, expertise in the field of law certainly increases the chances of a successful outcome.

How important is local knowledge to the success of your cases?

Having a local attorney is critical. Having practiced in central New York and northern Pennsylvania for over 20 years, I am familiar with the local Judges, attorneys, and medical providers. I have seen situations where lawyers fly in from distant offices on the morning of the hearing. A local presence and local knowledge definitely improves the chances of a favorable outcome in a workers' compensation or social security disability case.

What information can you provide in a free phone consultation?

An explanation of the complex procedures in volved in a social security disability or workers' compensation case. I can provide advice as to how to maximize the chances of a successful outcome.

What information do you need in a free phone consultation?

It is helpful to have a list of medical providers and information concerning the employer/carrier for a workers' compensation matter.

What differentiates you from other lawyers in your community?

My firm handles workers' compensation matters on behalf of injured workers and insurance carriers. So, I am aware of what motivates the opposing side and this assists in negotiating or litigating a successful outcome. For social security disability and SSI matter, handling the case at all levels of the process avoids the need to switch lawyers to continue pursuing your case.

What is the most rewarding aspect of your job?

Assisting clients with achieving financial security by helping them navigate the complex workers' compensation and social security disability systems.

What are your other interests in addition to law?

Yoga, travel, hiking and cooking.

Are you involved in your community?

I enjoy meeting friends and neighbors at yoga classes or on the hiking trails.
