Questions & Answers

Please describe a case in the last year or two where you made a big difference.

Last year, I was able to get an A1 drug felony charge dismissed for a client.

How did you build a successful practice?

My idea of the best way to build a successful practice is simply to make certain that clients are so pleased with my staff, my services, and the results we help them obtain, that in the end they will refer their friends and family to my firm. I attempt to achieve this by always being attentive to my client's needs, preferences, and working hard on their behalf to ensure the best results possible for them.

What should clients look for in a lawyer?

Clients should look for a lawyer that is experienced within their specific type of legal issue. A lawyer that they believe will devote him or herself to working tirelessly as their advocate and voice, and they feel comfortable with and trust.

How important is local knowledge to the success of your cases?

Local knowledge is critical in helping to ensure a good result for clients. Knowing the personalities of the local players (judges and assistant district attorneys) can often make the difference between a favorable and unfavorable result for a client. A lawyer familiar and respected by the local players can often use that knowledge to obtain a good result either through negotiation or trial.

What information can you provide in a free phone consultation?

During a phone consultation, I can provide a prospective client with general information about their case including what steps to expect and the overall legal process. Often as a result of a phone consultation, I can set the potential client's mind at ease and assuage his or her anxiety until we have the opportunity to meet in person and discuss specifics about their case.

What differentiates you from other lawyers in your community?

My background differs a bit from most lawyers in the community. Before I became a lawyer, I worked as a lecturer, adjunct professor, and political consultant. This allows me to have a broader perspective and a wider range of experience to draw upon. I feel this knowledge base especially assists me with younger people and clients as a whole. This experience afforded me the ability to build rapport and gain trust.

What is the most rewarding aspect of your job?

The most rewarding aspect of my job is when I am able to take on a challenging case and obtain a great result for my client. I love the feeling of knowing that I helped someone with a serious legal issue and assisted them being able to experience a feeling of being treated fairly by the justice system.

What are your other interests in addition to law?

Besides law, I enjoy writing, reading, and teaching. I taught a course in Business Law at Cayuga Community College recently and thoroughly enjoyed my re-acquaintance with the classroom.
