Please describe a case in the last year or two where you made a big difference.
In the past year I represented a good friend of mine, as well as his wife and daughter, in a civil dispute arising from the daughter's fall off of the family's back deck. It was a tragic occurrence caused by the negligent work of a contractor who worked on my friend's home. Fortunately, his daughter should be alright but it does not erase what happened. I have been able to obtain a favorable settlement for the family and bring the matter to conclusion. The case has been a hard fought battle. Through it I learned more about the value of family and relationships, while at the same time being able to help out the family. Although the case was very difficult at times, I thank God for the opportunity to have been of service.
How did you build a successful practice?
Learning to adapt to significant changes, in addition to hard work and discipline.
What should clients look for in a lawyer?
Someone they can trust to make good decisions.
How important is local knowledge to the success of your cases?
It is significant. The venue of a case is a factor, and if it is ignored then it can be a costly mistake. Many judges have local rules that differ from the normal rules other lawyers and judges follow. Additionally, the demographic make-up of a lawyer's potential jury pool is something every lawyer should know before filing suit.

The potential client's background, the facts concerning the dispute or matter at issue, and whether the client can pay or it will be a pro bono matter.
