I've learned through my experience with Colwell that big law firms are not necessarily the way to go. Client relations people are wonderful but there was a huge disconnect (lack of concern/compassion for family emergency) with both attorneys I spoke with. I paid my retainer within 24 hrs. Several days pass and I finally hear from my assigned attorney to go over my family's crisis. I heard nothing from my attorney for several days after and was then contacted for more money. OK, take all my money, its yours, but please act swiftly. Two weeks pass as a "client" of Colwell before I give up and find another attorney willing to act with the urgency my family desperately needs. Colwell assured me my refund would be processed 6 days ago. Luckily , I've learned enough in my short time as a client to follow-up and sure enough, they never got around to processing it. If you're keeping track, that's 3 weeks of no actual representation despite being the most expensive and highly rated firm. Thanks a lot Colwell.

There is nothing worse than being stuck in a dark tunnel and not knowing where to go for custody battles or any family battles! From day one of speaking with my attorney, Marissa Gordon (now Marissa winch) she has done nothing but made everything so much better. Her timeliness with responding, meeting up if needed, and going into detail on the situation, her caring and understanding, her honesty and most importantly her dedication to get to where I needed to be. I went to the Colwell Law Group to find an Attorney for my divorce. I feel very fortunate, to have found Attorney, Marissa Gordon. For the last 10 months I have gone through a horrible divorce, which has been the worst experience of my life. Marissa has been one of the few positives during this horrendous ordeal. Marissa is an exceptional, thoughtful, caring Attorney & person. Anytime I had a question via phone, email or had to meet in person, Marissa would get back to me very quickly or be willing to meet with me ASAP if needed. Living in NY, as a man, going through a divorce, I was not expecting a great outcome, however Marissa fought on my behalf, and far exceeded my expectations. She is an expert in Matrimonial Law and will fight for you every step of the way. Marissa’s professionalism, knowledge and attention to detail is outstanding. Marissa made the process of this horrible experience, seem not so bad. I just can’t thank Marissa and the Colwell Law Group enough, for helping me through this awful time. Marissa Winch was a godsend on my behalf dealing with a child custody case. Her professionalism couldn't be beat throughout this process. She was constantly in contact with me and was always available to take my calls. Couldn't have ask for a better attorney to represent me. Thank you Marissa!

Absolutely abysmal experience with these people. To start they will promise you everything during your consultation and first meeting with your assigned attorney. They will assign you an attorney from the furthest office possible. Once it comes time for them to actually work on the case, they will display minimum effort, after having meetings they will miswrite your paperwork then charge you to fix their own mistakes. They will very poorly explain any and all processes to you, and not fight for your cause. After telling you that they can get your child what they deserve during your first few meetings, they will then say it’s too tall of a task despite earlier promises. Once you start receiving your billing it will only get worse. You will be charged for them to fix their mistakes and you will be charged drive time. Even after they admit that they overcharged, they will not refund the money. Absolutely zero accountability from attorneys and management in this firm. Then they will make you fight to get your retainer back. Do not make the mistake of choosing this firm, there is zero accountability amongst the attorneys and among management. If you do make the mistake of choosing them and get assigned Rebecca, immediately ask for change of attorney papers, as she will overcharge for drivetime, charge you to fix her own mistakes and try to cover up her mistakes when you do ask to speak to management. Absolutely terrible, service, customer service, accountability, and integrity.
