Our firm was founded by our father and mentor Virgil Jackson in 1971 in the mid-wilshire area of Los Angeles, California. He was able to use the knowledge he had gained working for insurance companies to help victims of accidents obtain fair compensation for their injuries. Over the years he continued to focus his practice on helping injury victims, particularly those with work injuries. He earned an excellent reputation among his peers, judges and court personnel as a compassionate and tenacious advocate who fought tough yet fairly to obtain the full measure of compensation for his clients. Mr. Jackson’s excellent reputation for results quickly spread throughout Los Angeles and surrounding counties and his practice flourished with most of his clients being referred by other clients.

As a partner in the firm, Brent specializes in representing employees in wrongful termination cases. He has worked exclusively in the area of employment litigation since he began practicing law in 1998. Through the years, Brent has successfully represented hundreds of plaintiffs in employment-related litigation, obtaining significant settlements and jury verdicts against Fortune 500 companies, large government entities, as well as small and medium-sized employers. Since he joined forces with Gary Carlin to launch the firm in July of 2004, he has been lead trial counsel in employment cases that generated more than $7 million dollars for his clients. He has handled virtually every type of labor and employment dispute, including claims of sexual harassment, unpaid overtime, whistle-blowing, racial discrimination, age discrimination, disability discrimination, and gender discrimination. In addition, he has also successfully prosecuted cases based on breach of contract, fraud, defamation, and other civil claims that often arise in the context of employment. Brent was also nominated as Trial Lawyer of the Year by the Consumer Attorneys Association of Los Angeles for 2008.Brent was raised in Laguna Beach, and attended Laguna Beach High School, where he played tennis and basketball. In 1994, he went on to earn a bachelor's degree at the University of California at Santa Barbara, where he graduated with honors. After college, Brent followed through with his ambition of becoming a lawyer, enrolling at the University of San Diego School of Law, where he earned his law degree in 1997. It was in law school that Brent decided that representing individuals, particularly those who have been wronged, was much more rewarding than defending corporations.

The founding member of the firm, Gary Carlin is one of the most seasoned employment law attorneys in California. Gary has been practicing law since 1970, having established his own practice in 1977 and guiding Carlin & Buchsbaum into one of the largest and most respected employment litigation firms in Southern California. With his unique focus and expertise in the plight of employees, Gary provides the experience and resources to offer his clients new chances in life and at work. In more than 35 years of practicing law, Gary has obtained verdicts, judgments, awards, and settlements of cases at a present value of over $100,000,000 for his clients. Gary has an amazing range of legal experience and has gained a reputation for reliability and strong ethics, previously advising the Supreme Court of the State of California on matters of attorney discipline and serving on multiple committees and panels statewide. After law school, Gary worked at the Law Offices of C. Ransom Samuelson, the first attorney to ever obtain a jury verdict in excess of $100,000 in Los Angeles County. He later became a partner in the firm before establishing his practice. Gary is a native of Southern California, born in Los Angeles, and graduated from the University of California at Los Angeles with a B.A. in History. He then moved north to complete his education at the University of California at Hastings College of Law in San Francisco and became licensed to practice law in the State of California in 1970.

Tracy Neal-Lopez is the founding member of the firm; she has wealth of trial and litigation experience, having taken numerous cases to judgment, including jury trials, bench trials and arbitration. She has represented many clients facing a vast array of life changing situations and she prides herself on being willing to take cases all the way to trial. Tracy represents either plaintiffs or defendants in state and federal court. She fights injustice, focusing her litigation skills primarily in employment and labor disputes. Her areas of practice include, wrongful termination, wage and hour, misclassification, whistleblower retaliation, interference with prospective economic advantage, non-compete provisions, defamation, breach of employment contract, discrimination and harassment. She also handles business and corporate litigation matters. Such as matters involving partnership disputes, corporate dissolution, breach of contract, fraud and misrepresentation, and unfair business practices. One of her primary achievements in her legal work was before the California Court of Appeals where she successfully challenged the assumption of risk doctrine in a case entitled Lackner vs. North (2006) 135 Cal. App. 4th 1188. Tracy received her law degree from Loyola Law School. She received her Bachelor of Arts degree in English at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA).

Is a Managing Partner at the Long Beach office. After graduating Whittier Law School with honors in May 2003, Mr. Benjumea began his career in Workers’ Compensation. Mr. Benjumea has extensive experience in all aspects of Workers’ Compensation Defense including depositions, trials, appeals, serious and willful misconduct, and discrimination claims L.C. 132a. Mr. Benjumea has prevailed at all AOE/COE trials he has submitted through the years.

Frank R. Fasel specializes in catastrophic injury cases including individual personal injury cases involving pedestrian related accidents, premises liability, business tort / civil fraud cases. Recently, In October 2013, Mr. Fasel obtained a million dollar settlement for a pedestrian struck in Long Beach by a vehicle. Mr. Fasel received his Juris Doctor from California Western School of Law. He was highly involved in the Student Bar Association and was the school’s sports director. While attending law school he worked pro bono for the Multiple Conflicts Office in downtown San Diego, a division of the Public Defender’s Office. While working for the Multiple Conflicts Office, he assisted staff attorneys in defending clients charged with serious criminal offenses, including felony murder. He is recognized as a top trial attorney with extensive trial and appellant experience. Founding Partner Christopher Guldjian is an aggressive advocate and trial attorney for those who have been injured due to the negligence and intentional acts of other individuals and companies. Mr. Guldjian was trained by clerking for the Los Angeles Superior Court in Long Beach and the Huntington Beach City Attorney’s office. His trial experience grew while working for major private firms and renowned plaintiff trial attorneys. Mr. Guldjian has successfully brought several cases to verdict and has aggressively advocated major plaintiff settlements emulating in the millions of dollars. Recently, Chris was featured on the front page of the Orange County Register after suing a mental health facility related to his client being raped by another patient. Mr. Guldjian received his B.A. in Political Science and International Relations at California State University, Long Beach. He earned his J.D. from Whittier Law School. While in law school, he received an award in pretrial litigation and graduated top of his class. During the course of his career, Mr. Guldjian has achieved top ratings by Super Lawyer, Nolo, Best Lawyers, and Avvo. He has numerous articles published and presented topics throughout the nation.
