Attorney Diana Devine was born in Queens, New York, and initially raised in Staten Island, New York, but moved to rural northeastern North Carolina at age 13 and attended Perquimans County High School in Hertford, North Carolina. She knew she wanted to be a lawyer since she was eight years old. Whenever she was asked what she wanted to be when she grew up, she would answer with confidence, “A lawyer!”. She graduated magna cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from East Carolina University in 2004. Diana jumped right into the legal field, working as a paralegal and law firm administrator for a general practice law firm in Elizabeth City, North Carolina, for over ten years. She gained invaluable experience in practice areas such as personal injury, civil litigation, criminal defense, workers’ compensation, real estate, domestic law, and much more. She continued her legal career by attending Regent University School of Law in Virginia Beach, Virginia. She graduated in May 2018 and swiftly passed the July 2018 North Carolina State Bar on her first try. She began working here at Brent Adams & Associates after passing the Bar in August 2018. As a student in law school, she received several honors and scholarships, such as the Academic Merit Award, Dean’s Scholarship Award, and even a Book Award. She also participated in several groups and competitions, such as Moot Court, Alternative Dispute Resolution Competitions, Trial Advocacy, PILAR, Christian Legal Society, American Bar Associations Law Student Division, and Phi Alpha Delta Law Fraternity International. She wishes to argue in front of the United States Supreme Court one day so that admittance will come next.

Attorney Sheila White Chavis joined Brent Adams & Associates in 2004 and is now an owner/partner in the firm. She is a graduate of Duke University and was a fellow at the Woodrow Wilson Institute of Public Policy and International Affairs at the University of California-Berkeley. When she’s not hard at work on workers’ compensation litigation, she spends time with her family. Her husband is an active equestrian and the manager of Triangle Horse Sports in Raleigh. They have three sons: Kyle, Mekhi, and Logan.
