The fact that you’re thinking about finding a qualified, experienced, Las Vegas Social Security lawyer shows that you may already know a fair amount about just how complicated the entire claims process can be. You probably also know that ninety out of every one hundred people who apply for benefits have their claim denied.

Of those ninety people, only about sixteen will appeal the decision and bring the case before an administrative law judge (ALJ). If the ALJ denies the claim, the decision can be appealed again, and taken to an appeals council. If they refuse to hear the case, or if they deny the claim, then the decision can be appealed one final time, at which point it is taken to federal court.

But it’s entirely unlikely that your case will need to go that far. Of the sixteen people who appealed the initial denial of benefits, thirteen will end up with their claim approved. So, why do so many of them give up and never appeal the initial decision?

The Process is Overwhelmingly Complicated

If your initial claim was denied because you failed to provide some paperwork or fillout a needed field, then you may think that it would be relatively easy to correct the mistake, resubmit the documents, and have your claim approved. But that’s not how the appeals process works. Instead, you’ll need to go before an ALJ and provide additional objective medical evidence supporting your claim. You may even need to provide expert witnesses.

Arranging for all of this without the help of a Las Vegas Social Security lawyer can prove difficult, if not impossible. With the help of a Las Vegas Social Security lawyer, though, your appeal is likely to result in the approval of benefits.
