Civil Protection Orders last 1 year from the date it was issued. Respondents could file a motion with the court to modify or remove the Civil Protection Order prior to the 1 year time frame. If the terms of a Civil Protection Order are violated within the 1 year time frame, a person is guilty of a Class D Felony, which could result in a prison sentence or fines up to $5,000.00.
