Summary: Dealing with bills is challenging to begin with, but you may be completely overwhelmed after being served with a lawsuit or finding that a default judgment has been granted against you if you failed to take proper action.

"A collections lawsuit may be overcome quite easily, but without action, a default judgment can result in a flurry of negative repercussions. Creditors are then imbued with the power to take strong, swift measures such as garnishing of wages, seizing of property, and levying of bank accounts. This is difficult for anyone to handle, but younger consumers are supposed to be in the process of building credit rather than having it end before it nearly began."
