Summary: Starting a new business in California requires you to register and obtain the proper permits and licenses from government entities. This list helps you find them

Are you opening or considering to open a restaurant or other business in San Diego, California? If so, you should strongly consult with the following agencies to make sure you obtain all the required permits and licenses. Note, every county has a different office, but the list of permits and licenses remain just about the same. This list is not exhaustive, so make sure you see all the licenses required for your specific type of business. You can search it under http://www.calgold.ca.gov.

Note that if you have more than five employees, you should obtain Worker's Compensation Insurance in addition to the following listed permits and licenses. You also need to have an Injury and Illness Prevention Plan and are further required to post the required anti-discrimination signs in visible locations of your business so employees can see them. Make sure you obtain posters DFEH 162, DFEH 185, and CFRA. Employee records in California must also be kept for a minimum of two (2) years.
