Have you been the subject of motorcycle profiling? There is a nationwide effort underway to stop motorcycle profiling. You can help by participating.
What is motorcycle profiling? Washington defines profiling as “the illegal use of the fact that a person rides a motorcycle or wears motorcycle-related paraphernalia as a factor in deciding to stop and question, take enforcement action, arrest, or search a person or vehicle with or without a legal basis." Washington Code § 43.101.419.
Help the movement by taking the National Motorcycle Profiling Survey at MotorcycleProfilingProject.com. Click on "National Survey" at the top of the home page.
On a local (Iowa) level, you can report motorcycle profiling by going to TheBikerLawyers.com. About halfway down the page on the left side, click on "Police Complaint Form." You will be taken to a link to download the complaint form along with instructions on how to complete it.
Motorcycle profiling is an epidemic. Unless we routinely report and document these incidents, there is no chance of putting a stop to it.
Please, take the survey, and share with your friends.
