There are 60 deaths per year due to scaffold-related accidents in the U.S. according to the United States Department of Labor. This is in addition to 4,500 injuries that did not result in death to the workers.
72% of workers that were injured in scaffold accidents blamed their accident either on the planking or support giving way, or to the employee slipping or being struck by a falling object. These accidents could have been prevented by better compliance with OSHA standards.
