Special Circumstances When Suspending or Expelling Students with Disabilities in Connecticut
School staff may remove a student to an interim alternative educational setting for up to 45 school days, regardless of whether the behavior is linked to the child’s disability, in situations where the child:

brings or possesses a weapon at school, on school grounds, or at a school event organized by a State or local educational agency;

knowingly possesses or uses illegal drugs, or sells or seeks to sell a controlled substance while at school, on school grounds, or at a school event organized by a State or local educational agency; or
-
has caused serious bodily injury to another person while at school, on school grounds, or at a school event organized by a State or local educational agency.
