Related services are essential for a student to fully benefit from special education. These services can include, but are not limited to, speech and language therapy, audiology services, psychological and counseling support, physical and occupational therapy, recreational services, medical services for diagnosis or evaluation, orientation and mobility services, school health services, social work services, transportation services, and counseling and training for parents. Although a related service does not require its own annual goal, each service must support one of the existing annual goals in a student’s Individualized Education Program (IEP).
