IEP stands for “Individualized Educational Program”, which is a plan that describes the special
education services that a student is entitled to. The purpose of an IEP is to establish learning
goals and outline the objectives that will be used to achieve said goals. IEPs are developed by a
Planning and Placement Team made up of the student’s parents, teachers, and other important
members of school staff. During the PPT meeting the team will review any documents and/or
assessments relevant to the child’s education, and curate a plan that helps improve their
educational performance and overall learning experience.
