For the most part, special education teachers and regular teachers receive the same kind of general training. Both have similar coursework, with the difference being that special education teachers have added coursework that allows them to teach students with multiple disabilities. Special education teachers and regular teachers often work together as they may share some of the same students, and therefore need to collaborate on developing lesson plans and implementing learning accommodations. In short, the roles and responsibilities of special education teachers tend to be more vast as they are case-specific and may differ depending on the student they are working with.
