ADVISORY COMMITTEE:    You have the opportunity to name a committee of advisors for your estate, three or five individuals (we generally recommend you appoint an odd number so that advice might be made by a majority, if not a unanimous, decision).  Most clients choose to name three (3) close advisors to their Advisory Committee.  The purpose of the Advisory Committee is to provide continuity for your estate administration, and to let your loved ones know from whom you would recommend they seek advise on financial matters and other difficult decisions that might arise from time to time.  Your Advisory Committee is also a helpful mechanism to resolve any future family dissention, say for example, following the death of the last parent, if the children once they attain control of their respective inheritances become involved in a family dispute.  The Advisory Committee can resolve that family conflict in a private manner without the necessity of dragging family business into the courts, and thereby maintain the family’s confidentiality, and eliminate costly legal bills.  Personally, we generally ask not to be named to serve on your committee of advisors, since we would otherwise be continuing to serve as legal counsel for your executor or executrix during the administration of your estate.  However, if you have no other individual whom you wish to name to serve on the Committee, we will of course honor your wishes in this regard if you wish to otherwise name us to so serve.
